The preliminary report said that the U.S. government had determined that bin Laden was a key terrorist financier as early as 1995 but that efforts to expel him from Sudan stalled after Clinton officials concluded that he could not be brought to the United States without an indictment. A year later, bin Laden left Sudan and set up his base in Afghanistan without resistance.

The report revealed that in a previously undisclosed secret diplomatic mission, Saudi Arabia won a commitment from the Taliban to expel bin Laden in 1998. But a clash between the Taliban’s leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar, and Saudi officials scuttled the arrangement, and Bush did not follow up.

Damn that Bush!!!

On a more serious note: how much does MSNBC suck?

Now I'm really pissed at the guy. I mean who the hell does he think he is waiting until he gets elected, two years after the possible deal to get him before he does something?

Now just wait a minute:

He had already been elected, and as governor of Texas, I believe that the proper response was to send a strongly worded note:

Yeah, that would have fixed their wagons.

Well in that case he actually succeeded. I mean has there been an attack on or in Texas? Nope. see how much of a deterent he was/is? I mean the only reason 9/11 happened is because they spent all that time planning it before he went to DC and they figured if he left Texas he'd leave his balls behind because they weren't used to seeing someone with a set in DC.;)

While searching the forum for another reason, I noticed this edit:

Probably that conservative media bias at work.

Considering that Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz is Bush's Godfather (Allahfather), you can make the connection.

Uh no.

Change that to: "The Americans put pressure on Sudan (where we could easily keep tabs on him) to kick him out; they did, and he went to Afghanistan (where we were not able to tabs on him at all)." and you've got something alot more accurate.

But considering that Bush Sr. is the one that send our army over to their holy land back in the early 90s (driving them nuts)(and Clinton never bothered to withdraw it), it looks like the finger is being pointed at the wrong Bush.

(Which sounds like a very odd phrase indeed)
