Much has been made of the few seconds of free fall in the WTC. So far as I can see, the onlt items falling at anything approaching free-fall were some of the debris from the collapsing zones of the towers and at least part of the shell of WTC 7.

The speed of the collapses is used as evidence of CD, because, theoretically, only if the lower structure is removed can any building fall at those rates.

I have begun to wonder, though, whether this holds true for all CDs. Does it hold true for demolition by explosives only, or by verinage?

My math is totally not up to measuring these things, but I was wondering whether there might be data available to show what sorts of collapse speeds we see in other demolitions. How fast, for example, did the Landmark collapse after being blown apart at the bottom? How fast did the roof of the Balzac-Vitry building fall?

These might make useful comparison models for other discussions.
