The Assange conspiracy thread

As the thread in SE&CE has degenerated into Assange-apologists embrasing a conspiracy theory in order to keep arguing that Assange shouldn't be extradited for rape charges, I feel it's more proper that the discussion takes place here.

I would like to start off by asking for evidence of how this conspiracy is orchestrated, by whom and for what purpose. Please outline exactly how this would work, and why it's so important for The Powers That Be to get Assange extradited to Sweden.

Well, as we witness in the thread in SE&CE which has degenerated into angry Sweden-apologists calling rationalists names, that pro-forma sovereign country which really is a vassal of the Empire run by a small capitalist clique behind a monarcho-commie smokescreen doesn't even shy away from sending its agents to harmless skeptical forums, so where smoke is there must be fire somewhere. :D

All of this convoluted hoop jumping the CT's indulge in falls down for the simple reason that if the US wanted him the UK would almost certainly have handed him over, no need for any Heath Robinson style scheme involving the Swedes.

Thats correct the UK would have jsut handed him straight to the US, no messing around.

Not just that; if he's extradited to Sweden, both Sweden and the UK would have to agree to any request for extradition by the US, rather than just the UK if he stays here. As with so many conspiracy theories, it's hardly necessary even to look at the evidence; the basic premise is utterly and demonstrably absurd.

So the answer is you don't know but felt required to make a comment anyway?

Then there's the whole matter of convenience. The CT has the US somehow faking a rape investigation in Sweden.

If they're willing to do that, surely it would be a lot easier to simply forge evidence that Assange was intimately involved with Manning's leak, rather than just being a recipient or subscriber. Then all they'd have to do is present that smoking gun to the UK authorities (or the Swedish authorities, as the case may be), and have him extradited on the strength of it.

It's much cleaner and neater. No need to co-opt foreign governments. No need to rely on foreign policies and procedures. Less chance of things going wrong. Less potential whistle-blowers. Etc.

If you're going to frame him for a crime because of Wikileaks, why not just frame him for the crime of Wikileaks?

Exactly. Just exaggerate his involvement with Manning and have UK extradite him on espionage charges. This other nonsense is so convoluted. And it involves so many more people. The more people you involve in a plan, the more likely it is to fall apart.

Hell you don't have to do anything. Assange basically destroyed his credibility and that of Wikileaks too when he went running to Ecuador.

"Oh Julian is all about freedom of the press and information. Unless it is Ecuador. Or Chavez. Or Cuba."

Nice of Ecuador to let Julian off his leash to give speeches critical of the US.

Really, this says it all G-man. All the other stuff, really is JA fans/apologists/whatever, silly, stupid and moot. Of course no one wants to be sent to the Swedish gulag, I know:rolleyes:

I think JA and Miss A conspired together to lay the rape charges in order to flush out the intentions of the USA.
Previously he has liked to go countries like Kenya and publish leaked documents and there would be a high chance that the USA could come to an agreement with those types of jurisdictions.

I can't tell if you're being serious or not.

Can you provide some more details of what you think the conspiracy actually was, and how it was supposed to work?

I don't understand what you are trying to say here at all.

What kind of agreement? What do you mean by "those types of jurisdictions"?
