Okay, I've finally had enough of this nonsense.

No matter how thoroughly we address truther claims, we still have newbies coming out of the woodwork, ignoring all past discussion already archived here, and making the same claims all over again.

I have kept posting here mainly for the excellent practice it provides for written communication skills, and of course the entertainment value. However, I've been spending too much time here and it's affecting my real life to an unacceptable degree.

Therefore, I'm following Gravy's example and will not be posting in the Conspiracy Theories subforum any more.

Certainly, there are truthers that will not even notice I'm gone; others will crow victory. It doesn't matter.

Unless truthers actually DO something other than endlessly debate about trivial details that keep their diminishing hopes alive that Bush & Cheney may have had something to do with 9/11, nothing they do will matter.

In fact, we could all stop debating them tomorrow; they could shout from all the mountaintops that they have WON, that Trutherism is now the new reality, and it won't make a bit of difference. The real world will continue to operate as it has all along: As if the truth "movement" never existed.

Toodles! Have fun!

I actually think that CT needs a 9-11 subforum so that it doesn't detract from the main body of discussion. There are so many 9-11 threads that its hard to see the wood for the trees sometimes.

Your input into this subforum is greatly valued aggle-rithm, and I'm sad to see you go.

That being said, you have made a reasoned decision based on the available facts, and I applaud your decision.

Best of luck to you outside the forum!
Doc.

Yep. I 'retired' from even reading all the conspiracy BS a few months ago because it was just getting ridiculous. And I pop in every now and then to see if there is anything new and guess what:

there isn't

Umm...what's the main body of discussion again?

Ah..good point :)

True, there are lots of '9-11' conspiracy theories, orone big theory, or however you want to phrase it, but I find the non-9-11 ones of more interest. They just get missed in the mass of 9-11 repetition and rehashing.

Not that many of the others are particularly new much of the time, but at least they tend not to go on about CCTV and thermate quite so much.

Damn, at least Gravy posted a list of those who inspired him to quit.

Always sad to see a debunker go, especially one as effective (and funny) as aggle-rithm. I understand the frustration; there have been times when the willful blindness of what passes for opposition here makes me want to throw my monitor though a window.

Cheers to you, AR. You were (and are) one of the good guys.

I second the idea of doing a 9/11 subforum. It seems like it's hard for a non 9/11 thread to get traction here, and it certainly is not the only conspiracy going. Until then, the small core of conspiray hobbyists and banned sock puppets will keep starting thread after thread after thread over the same identical claims, bringing them to the top again and again.

9/11 has entered that second phase of conspiracy life, where it's completely faded from the mainstream and taken up residence with the usual suspects of hard-core conspiracy types, along with JFK and the Apollo moon hoax. That is, the quality of information never changes or improves, it's the same claims that get recycled without regard for the responses.

Those people cling to it because they need it, and I understand that. Humans aren't perfect and especially when you start to talk about socially isolated humans frustrated with their lives.

But the whole 9/11 "movement" phase is over, the moment it started to touch the mainstream, the mainstream laughed it back into the dark corners. It'd be nice if they could just have their own section now so the conspiracy forum can move on.

Sad to see you go. Your contributions have been excellent, and almost always insightful (all of us occasionally stray). I have pulled back a fair bit from my posting frequency of a year ago, but I just can't seem to make that final break. I guess I enjoy the dialog with others here too much.

I hope you remain on the JREF forums, posting in the many other forums here.

Take care.

I am so close to doing that, too.

It wouldn't be so hard if any of the current crop were 5% as smart as Max was, but they all seem to be the leavings from the reject bin.

Well to be fair, most of the 5%'ers are D'oh P socks!
Have fun in the sun AR.

You mean, "no matter how many times we repeat government propaganda, someone people will never accept it."

"War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength."

Only conspiracy theorists deny such obvious truths.

and tanabear chimes in the exact BS that he's been spouting since posting here, despite the hundreds of topics that have refuted anything he claims

Im also for the sperate 911 sub forum for this category.

And I also, suggest, for hte posters here, to stop reply to the apparent "newbs" by just linking to the threads that have covered the issues that these supposed "newbs" have questions about.

We are contributing to the attention seeking "newbs" by continuing are repeptition of going over claims that have been addressed before.

On another forum I goto, this kind of newb behaviour is not tolerated. The "newb" is linked to a previous thread and the thread is locked, and given the advice that if he/she has a question that hasn't been answered, only then can they start a new thread (any thread that follows that also has issues or topics already covered, those threads are locked and the poster is issued a warning). Yes its harsh, but it keeps the banter and repetitiveness of topics down to the important ones

Maybe somene should take the time to create a topic that covers all the debunked theories and forgeries (videos) and place it in one topic, linking to the threads and articles that cover the claims.

You’re wrong; but only partially. Two of the “newbies” are P-Dope and LastChild. But the result is the same.

In any event, Aggle-rithm, well done! The goal is essentially achieved now anyway; we’re over the hump, etc.

Take it easy!
