Ted Shuttlesworth

The particular scene I saw this guy doing was, well, somewhere between alarming and hilarious.

He approached a couple (black man and woman.) They never spoke more than just confirming EVERYTHING this man said.

He told them they were being persecuted for their religion. Then he turned to the guy and said something like, "You sneaked out of a meeting to go hide in a storrage closet so you could pray." The man looked alarmed that he knew that. The preacher then proceded to give him very specific details of what the room looked like, and what he was doing in the room.

It had every indication of a hot reading.

Then after the reading he smaked the guy on the forehead, and dramatically turned around and walked away (with this smug arrogant look on his face.)

And people applauded. I don't ever remember applauding in church. They applauded the same way an audience applauds for John Edward and his like.

If I had to guess, I would say the man and woman were a plant.
 
Either a plant, or someone Ted knew of, and knew about. Or maybe he was just wrong. You say the guy looked alarmed but did he confirm what Ted said? Maybe he was thinking, 'You what????'

To me he gave the impression that everything the preacher said was spot on.

The more I think about it, I am starting to believe they were not a plant, but that Ted (as you suggested) had some information about him.

All he needed to know for him to pull off the performance that I saw was:

- The man had hidden in a storage room so he could pray.
- The name of the company for which the man worked.

Obviously he could assume that if a man is hiding in a storage room to pray, he must feel persecuted for his religion (at least at work.)

Also in the "reading" the preacher started to describe the storage room. He said something like, "There are metal shelfs." This is common in office storage rooms. And then he described the boxes on the shelf saying something like, "There are boxes on the shelf, they have a word printed on them... something that starts with the letter A..." and then he proceeded to slowly work out the name of the company for which the man worked. (It was a company that started with an "A".. though I don't remember the actual name.)


It kinda reminded me of how I reveal my knowledge of a "selected" card, "I'm seeing a red card. Yes, it's definitely red. It's a face card. I see a woman. Your card is the Queen of hearts!"


I wish I could get my hands on transcripts.
