Tech TV shakeup

Apparently the network that sponsors Tech TV has been bought out by another outfit, and a big shakeup is in the works.
According to Leo Laporte's BLOG, the entire staff has been sacked, with some re-hiring to take place when operations move to LA.

We've enjoyed Tech TV for years, it has a good mix of informative and entertaining programming. Certainly hope the new owners don't screw things up royally.

"The Screensavers" has been a wonderful source of unbiased review, tips, breaking tech news, and so forth.

If they moved Anime Central to a decent hour, and stopped repeating the same shows over and over again, THAT would be an improvement.

'Betterman', utltimately, bites. As does 'Lain'.

The company that bought them is comcast, and rumor is they're gonna take a few shows from TechTV and merge them onto G4 (the gaming channel they own).

Frankly, I think this sucks since I watch more shows on TechTV than on CBS or NBC, but I suppose I'm probably in the minority. I just really hope they keep XPlay somewhere I can watch it. I'm not even sure if I get G4...

I too watch more tech tv than network. X-play, screensavers, wired for sex, etc.

I have both G4 and TechTV and watched each for awhile. There's just so much Morganless gaming TV I can take, so I quit visiting G4 ages ago. But TechTV has been entertaining and informative to a near-technophobe like myself. I'll be very bummed if Screen Savers and Ask For Help don't make the move. I find both those shows far more valuable than anything I've ever seen on G4.

Morgan was on Unscrewed and stated that she would not be posing for Playboy (so did the cohost on there whose name I always forget, which kinda surprised me, actually). On one hand, I was disappointed in not being able to see more of her (*cough*), but on the other hand it makes her seem more like a real person and less like a "tv celebrity in it for the fame." From comments I've heard the X-Play team is really tightly knit and will try to negotiate for everyone moving if the show is picked up (and I think it's their highest rated show, so it seems likely).

It's really a bummer, I started watching like 6 months ago and now they're gonna kill it. Comcast bastards. Makes me glad I just switched to Direct TV and DSL, lousy TechTV killing scumbags.

Dunno, I think the whole thing was for the "option" to do the shoot. Frankly, there's enough people willing to take their clothes off in front of a camera that Morgan's decision not to doesn't really bother me. I like her fine as the attractive yet nerdy cohost of X-play. And I mean nerdy in a good way

Gonna confuse the heck outta my poor Tivo, though.

Is it just me, or is:
G4techTv a stupid name for a channel?

They need to get something original.
