I'm not sure if this should be in the entertainment section or not. But there is a tv show about some plumber ghost hunters. Its so dull I have trouble sitting through it. But I do try to watch these shows so I know what the average person is seeing, and believing...(if it's on tv...)

I have to give these plumbers some credit. Sure they "feel" things. But you would think after awhile they would become total skeptics. The last show I saw was the Winchester Mystery House and the Queen Mary. The mystery house isn't such a mystery (read Joe NIckells account of his visit). They set up the cameras and taped. Nothing. At one point something really spooky looking comes across the camera. I'm thinking a "big hit" for them. Nope, the one investigator calmly explains it's "probably a bug of some sort".

They then go back and report, "hey, theres nothing that we found".

Then off to the Queen Mary. They got a wonderful video showing a bed spread being pulled off a bed by invisible hands. They quickly figured out someone had stopped the tape and staged it. It was really quite well done too.

Now, a lot of investigators would have gladly used those two bits of tape. Even if they KNEW what they really were, because hey, THEY know there are ghosts and this will just get them more gigs where they might get real proof.

Now the rest of the show is such crap! But they seem pretty honest about some things that I think other investigators would not be so good about. (I'm thinking of a married couple......)

And geez, is it one boring show!

Some of the episodes are definately not as boring. The one common factor though is that they always are very critical about their evidence. If they can't prove something without a shadow of a doubt, they tell the person. The last episode had them exploring shureshank. They explained they experienced strange phenomenon, but really didn't catch anything on tape. They were disappointed but they all agreed that they didn't have any proof of a haunting.

I don't remember that episode about the bedsheets, but there was one in a hotel where they saw a lamp move, then realized someone accidentally dragged the cord.

Hello, and welcome to the Quick and Dirty Ghost Investigators. In our new half-hour time slot, we're going to investigate hauntings. So John, what did we find this week?

Absolutely nothing, Mary.

Super! Thanks for joining us. Join us again next week on Quick and Dirty Ghost Investigators.

I keep landing on this show while channel surfing for some reason. DULL
But if I watched more tv I'd be a cult follower by now.
Hunt after hunt - nothing.
Go figure.

One episode was filled with discussions about when someone stole a bunch of their stuff.

This is how "guys" do ghostbusting...

TAPS is how "Guys do Ghostbusting"...;) I've tried to watch the show several times. It just gets soo frustrating and boring. They have NO patience at all. Then I just don't get the point of the 2 "bosses" . What do they actually do? Atleast they treat this like a business operation and not some "Exorcist/psychic" crap. Although that might help out.
What is up with their "EMV??? Detectors? How lame is that? A modified multimeter that picks up ghost signals? AKA: Foil hats and a thermometer...:boggled: Why don't they show the clients the footage taken while filming the show? Clearly there were foot steps heard on the video of the bosses in Shawshank's prison. That was NEVER shown to the client.:boggled:
Truly a boring show... There is a better one with "psychics" on the Travellor channel that is MUCH better. They go to haunted inns or hotels and try to "talk" to the dead. It's had much more action on it. One guy got attacked by a ghost and it was shown on tape. You could see him get dragged into a room and punched in the gut. Pretty good acting on the guy's part! ;)

The few ghost hunts I've done have been pretty boring. (well, except when the rats showed up). some people get weirded out by dark places, or old houses. I spent a lot of time in a very old house growing up. they make funny noises. I remember introducing one couple to their ghost, the old iron radiators in every room!

But yeah, wouldn't you give up after awhile....

This is one of the reasons why skeptics are criticized: We are seen as debunkers. The natural explanation is not seen as exciting as the supernatural one. And we are the ones destroying other people's beliefs by showing them the "dull" reality.

Tough tittie.
