New guy here, first post.

I've done some searching, but haven't found an answer... What is the cost of attending TAM4? Not hotel & meals, but the lectures themselves. I'm new to this - how is it run? Is there a schedule available somewhere? Help the poor newbie. Thanks!

G'day! That's how I joined the forum originally, searching for TAM info! :)

linda@randi.org would be a good start, but here's a link to the last TAM details and I 'guess' that they'd be rather similar - you get to go to all the regular lectures but they have several additional lectures, dinners and demonstrations that cost extra but they're usually after the conference time. So - you get the conference lectures as a part of the fee for attending, but there's additionals that you can pay for and go to but only if you're interested.

The last TAM (this year will naturally be different) which will give you an idea about the 'extras' that may appear:

And a former JREF worker / moderator called HAl had found a link to TAM4 page, which is here: http://www.tam4.com

Oh, I found this via the search function:

... and I guess the rest is see developments as they arrive! :) Check out the newbies thread that's a sticky on the Forum Community page whilst you're here. :)

I'd mainly like to attend TAM4 just to see that Prophet Yahweh(sp?) guy get publicly exposed as a fraud, no matter how much extra that event costs!

Well, Jeff Wagg answered the question posed by the OP, but for any others planning to attend, here is some further information regarding costs for any new attendees, based on my experience at TAM3:

Travel: Depends on location and availablity of flights. Southwest has a major presence in Vegas so that helps in finding a low-cost alternative for US folks, especially if you are patient enough to check their website often and try and catch a deal. Right now about $300 for my flight.

Hotel: I'm figuring on 3 nights@$60 and 2 nights@$90, or $360 total (Average $72.00). Tax is about 12%, so add $43.20 to the bill for a total of $403.20, or $80.64 a night. You can find cheaper in Vegas, but probably not as nice and you will either need a car or public transportation.

Rental Car: Not needed if you're on a budget, some folks drive and a lot of stuff is in walking distance. The City Bus runs along the strip and to downtown for about $1.25 a trip. Taxies from the airport to the Stardust are about $15-20, (make sure to tell the driver to take paradise and not to take the tunnel, save about $5.00). Best thing to do is to hook up with folks that have wheels and persuade them what you want to do is what they want to do.

Per Diem: A breakfast and lunch buffet is included with the TAM4 cost, so if you can live with that, you only need money for dinner. Buffets and restaurants in Vegas aren't quite the bargain they once were, but you can still get a pretty good meal for under $20, and there is a Mickey D's next door at Circus Circus.

Shows are anywhere from $30-$100, depending on time and popularity. Save money, just walk down the Strip, see the outside attractions and walk through some of the Casinos (the Venetian and Bellagio are attractions all by themselves) and you can kill time without spending tons of money.

So for 5-nights, 6 days (two days travel-in and travel-out), figure to spend about $1,000 (US only), providing you can get a cheap flight. Not inexpensive, but for a week in Vegas with Randi and the folks he's bringing in, not all that bad a deal.

IMHO, of course.
