This idea was generated over dinner with Claus, budddyh and Finella- all great people. We figured as people find out great restaurants, good deals, etc- post them here for other Tamsters, in lieu of a bulletin board...assuming attendees can read JREF at TAM

Tip 1.
Absolutely great Thai restaurant
Lotus of Siam 953 East Sahara 702- 735-3033 It is rather small, close to the upper strip. Suggest reservation, as it was full Tuesday night. I read about it on a foodie board, and ordered based on their recommendations, and it was spectacularly good. This restaurant is considered one of the best Thai restaurant in the US, and with good reason. We had- crispy rice with sour sausage, salmon panang, drunken noodles with chicken, northern style pork stew, green papaya salad, and sticky rice dessert with coconut icecream and mango. I have to say we did not leave a morsel, and it was extraordinary- the total-including drinks and a tip was measly $20/person. I plan to live there. It is open for lunch and dinner. Lunch has a buffet, but I hear it is better to order off the menu. The staff is wonderful...well- if I am not at TAM, you know where I will be :)

Tip2 Free admission to Mac King and Ronn Lucas. Apparently BudddyH and Finella scored coupons for free tickets by looking like lost tourists at the Rio. Someone tried to sell them something, they resisted, but grabbed the coupons (free admission with purchase of a drink). I suppose the pitfall is that less assertive people would have to be dragged in to listen to the awful timeshare lecture- those two just got the goodies and ran. :)

POKER

I posted this on another site but it's worth noting here.

If you are interested in tournament style Hold'em poker, like on TV, the Mirage offers such a game on Thurs at 7pm, and Sunday at 5pm (Other times as well). There is a $120 buy in, but it will cost you more (rebuys, ad-ons) If you don't know what I just said, then maybe you should seek a low limit game. A $2-4 game is offered at Palace Station and Excelsior; $3-6 offered at the Mirage and Stardust.

Good luck! Fold those King-Three pocket cards.
