Yes, it's going to be on a party boat on Lake Mead.

Hmmm, for obvious reasons it would be really nice to come this year, but planned to be motorhoming through Poland and western Ukraine about that time :/

I really do think Las Vegas might just be a little bit safer.

I wonder if it's going to be Randi's last year. It may be super full because of that.

Really? Interesting. My five TAMs (8-12) have all been at the South Point, so a different venue will be a bit weird. (No Del Mar? :() Any idea where it's going to be held? Why the change?

ETA: The party boat sounds like fun. :D

Somewhere on The Strip is all I was told. Don't know why.

The only non-South Point one I've been to was my first (6) at the Flamingo. I actually like the South Point. It's quiet and comfortable. I don't like having bowlers and dirt bike people there, though.

TAM is like going to a convention with a thousand of your best friends.

The speakers and panels are varied and interesting and you can come and go as you please (so long as you don't disturb others who are watching). If you don't want to watch a speaker you don't have to.

In the hall are tables of people selling skeptic-based items and promoting their stuff. It's all approved by the organizers, and they aren't pushy at all. You don't even have to give them any attention if you don't want to.

There's almost always a group in the bar. Of course in the evenings, but also during the day there are people who are just hanging out when speakers they aren't interested in are on stage. At the South Point it was the Del Mar, but we'll find one wherever we go. We basically take it over and talk, play Cards Against Humanity and other games, and just generally hang out. No pressure to drink or join in if you don't want to - pretty much everyone is friendly.

The vibe is very chill. No expectations or pressure to do anything, but if you want to do anything all you have to do is ask to join. I don't think I've heard anyone say no. Want to join in a game at the bar? Just ask. Hear that a group is going to a restaurant that sounds good? Just ask if you can join them.

We're all there because we like the same things. It's not a professional type conference where you have to go to certain events, it's extremely relaxed and friendly.

Thanks. Sounds fun.
Go to TAM and find out. :)

ETA: well, looks like bumlet5 did a better job than I did. :D
Maybe one day but America is a long way to go.
