OK, a bit of fun ...what do we call it next year? ... "TAM 9 from outer space" worked, (well OK, apart from the fact that it confused the heck out of a few outsiders who thought we were a UFO cult) ... so how do we top it next year ...

- TAM 10
- TAM 10.23
- TAM 10 2012 The end of the world
- TAM^10

Got any others?

Call it simply "10" with a picture of Randi, w/ his beard braided, running on a beach toward the camera.

"The Tenth TAMmandment" w/ a picture of Randi on a beautiful mountain w/ his books in his arms.

Yes, because the Randi Iconography at TAM 9 didn't quite make us look enough like a cult.

:boxedin:

I have to admit I do not get the 10.23 reference.

I was not at TAM9 so didn't see the Randi Iconography.

Googled 10.23. It might not be well known enough to work. Plan 9/TAM9 had cult movie time.

2012: TAMS got legs!
Johnny Hart - too obscure?

2012: You Blew it Up! TAM you all to hell!
Maybe not too good for marketing

2012: TAMAZUL: From Nahua (one of the Mayan laguanges) tamazolin, "toad"
Makes for an easy logo idea

TinTam!
(10th anniversary is tin)

That was only a part of it. I know more than one other person agreed with me on the "cultish" look....

I can agree with some of the thinking in that view (maybe too many Randi tees)... but (and I admit I wore one of the fake beards in the picture) "cultish"? Really? It was a fun way to acknowledge the founder of the JREF and the inspiration for TAM, and a living hero to many people attending. It was also a way to help raise money for IIG, as I understand it.

I think it's a valid point that it's important to consider how outsiders see TAM and the JREF, but worrying whether passersby thought TAM9 was some kind of cult convention is really overthinking things, IMO. (And I don't think many people outside of TAM attendees/organizers even saw that picture being taken.)

I guess maybe I'm slightly ashamed to admit that I kinda like TAM Xtreme...
