Tales from Homeland Security

Yes.

I like these so much better.

The MSM lie.

Politically orriented blogs, especially those that confirm what I already believe or would like to believe, are far more comforting.

Like the Bush administration, I believe that reality-based thinking suffers in comparrision to wishful thinking.

Is it really that much trouble to use a real news source?

"Despite Hoelscher’s apparent total lack of professional management or security experience, the press release announcing his appointment praises his qualifications and claims he will now be providing “strategic counsel” to Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff: . . . "

If this is the truth, what difference does it make what the source is? Faux News certainly won't cover it until something drastically horrible happens, and this kid is blamed, then we'll find out he WAS trying to get some attention . . . only to be ignored?

He'll end up being chalked up as yet another "disgruntled employee."

BTW, I am sure that when you read the blog in question, you saw the link to Governmentexecutive.com -- a on-line version of Government Executive magazine that reports on appointments and positions -- and the story by a National Journal reporter about this appointment. Sure, the blog is second hand but it does link back to something similar to a real news source.

Government Executive and the National journal are at least as good as Fox.

From the Government Executive site:

"Hoelscher has no management experience, a review of his professional credentials shows. He came to government in 2001 as a low-level White House staffer, arranging presidential travel, according to news reports. He earned $30,000 a year, salary documents show."

hopefully, in just a few weeks, he'll be ready to head FEMA.

Because it has spin attached to it.

Help me out here. Making travel arrangements doesn't mean he has to book flights--the Prez always takes either AFI or AFII, right? The list of places where he would actually spend the night would be very short; just tell Secret Service where, and they'll make sure it's safe. I can't imagine a hotel turning WH staff down. They would have any private residence vetted in advance. So as far as I can tell, all he had to be able to do was tell time.

Because it has spin attached to it.

just so I am clear...and I know that the original piece I posted was rife with "spin"...which real news sources do you listen to that are devoid of spin? Fox? CNN? MSM? PBS?

Where is this wonderful spin-free zone, other, of course, than on B'Ore's show?

They'll probably get their story from AP anyway so the anwer is yes.

Well sure all journalists will have some spin, but I hope you will agree that going to a very biased blog is worlds apart from that.

I sure his most important qualification is that he will vote Republican and always be there to provide excuses for this pathetic administration ....

Charlie (any good news about Bush?) Monoxide

Spin aside, it's quite obvious that unless this guy did something amazing, he's not old enough or qualified enough to serve on the head of an agency that needs an experienced hand in rebuilding it. Hell, what we really need is Clinton rebuilding it back to its former glory.

Certainly, but as noted a link to a less "slanted" site was embedded in the blog...so sources for the "spin" was available.

My only point is, take or leave the spin as you will, this was not a made up story and when you look behind it, it is pretty much as the blog represents it...a seemingly marginally qualified person being elevated by an Administration that has a history of elevating marginally qualified people (BTW, let's agree before hand that this is something ALL politician do, but it doesn't make it good and, when national security is involved, it doesn't make it smart). Heck of a job, George.

The agency did not exist under Clinton, unless it's part of your joke :)
