Just thought I'd share a little something with the group...

While at the checkout aisle at the grocery store the other day, I saw Reader's Digest, with an article that caught my eye. It read, "HOW TO TAP YOUR PSYCHIC POWER". So I thought, maybe I should pick it up, just to see what kind of tripe it contains. But what clinched it for me was the main article - "10 New Scams To Avoid".

(FYI, the psychic article was an excerpt from a book, "Reading the Enemy's Mind" by Paul H. Smith.)

Ah, yes. Reader's Digest. That bastion of critical thinking that published a story whose title on the cover was "New Evidence: Prayer Works" which turned out to be "Yet more anecdotes indicating that people believe prayer works". Meh.

I'm very vague on the details here but wasn't readers digest owned or started by a religious fanatic?

Not according to WikiPedia, although it does say it has a very conservative set of values. But it also says the articles are rigorously fact checked. Take that for what you will.
