Sylvia Browne's website has been completely redone with old clips of her speaking and forums. I haven't looked at it too closely, but there might be come interesting stuff for skeptics on there. It's at http://www.sylviabrowne.com

From the press release:

SYLVIA BROWNE LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE POWERED BY NOX SOLUTIONS
November 18, 2009
News Release
Nox Solutions (PRLEAP.COM)

Bestselling author, spiritual teacher and psychic, Sylvia Browne, launched a new website today (www.SylviaBrowne.com). The site allows her community to stay connected 24/7 with features such as on-demand audio and video streaming, webinars, call-in audio shows, podcasting, message boards, blogging and much more.
...

Full: Nox Solutions (PRLEAP.COM)

I'm reluctant to give her site a hit on Google and raise it to a prominent position. But I AM curious. Do you know, before I make up my mind, if you have to register to read and see most of the content?

BTW, I think there is a typo in your post. Shouldn't it read - by "NOXIOUS" SOLUTIONS???

*sighs*

If you go to the forum, one of the three sections is titled "Dear Sylvia; Thank You, Sweet Spirit".

This woman is incredibly egotistical.

Won't have a chance to look through much of the site tonight but did manage to listen to two of the short video clips.

Minarvia, you can read through most of the site and even view most of the short video clips without registering or logging in. The trick is they are trying to generate money by having people join "The Inner Circle," for a fee, in which you case you have access to the full video clips. But this is not required.

One of the clips I listened to was from 1995, entitled Your Spiritual Advisor. She was asked how she got started in crime solving and she answered that she'd been on Montel and had solved a crime on the show, and shortly after that she cracked the ski mask rapist case.

The ski mask rapist case was solved in 1987 (it's mentioned in her own first book), long before Sylvia was a guest on the Montel Williams show.

Does she just not listen to what she says??

She also was asked about the Chandra Levy case and she replied that she really couldn't talk publically about a case she was peripherally working on, BUT... she felt Levy wouldn't be found alive. Was Browne working officially (i.e. at the invitation of law enforcement or Levy's parents) on the Levy case? Didn't I read somewhere that Levy's mother has denied that?

At any rate, thanks for posting about this, QG!

I'm with you. I want to see it, but the idea of boosting that woman's ratings makes me feel uncomfortable.

Perhaps I'll watch the thread and see your reports rather than give her site a hit. And hit Roberts site each day instead :)

Even if we lost access to them on her current site, I'm thinking we could find them through the internet archives.

I listened to part of another video tonight. It was an old video from 1999 and Louise Hay introduced her as a "true spiritual visionary." I recall Robert had done an article on Louise Hay that questioned whether or not she endorsed Sylvia Browne. Evidently this would help answer that question and indicate that she definitely did in the past. I wonder if that is still the case now.

And hopefully won't give that woman's actual site a "hit"? Great! Thanks for posting that. And thanks, Ex-Minister for answering my registration question. :)

I'll wait just a little while more, then.

Browne's website announced:

Sylvia is no longer affiliated with nor does she endorse spiritnow.com or anything that they are promoting on their website and/or selling in the spiritnow.com store. There are items in the spiritnow.com store that are not sanctioned Sylvia Browne products.

Gah! Chris is getting his own webcast? BARF!!! Sylvia just won't quit pushing, will she? Of course maybe Chris wants to take over and later, after she retires or passes away, set himself apart from her. I don't know but we'll see if this site is any more successful than her last "Go" attempt at a site.

His readings are on sale, too.

ETA: That spiritnow place is (as expected) chock full of woo. The Sylvia-related items for sale are 30+ e-books (pdf) of hers and several astrology forecasts and whatnot for $5 a pop. Also, her "Inner Circle" is a whopping $50 a year, or $6 a month.

Here are her scheduled appearances:

Birmingham, AL Feb 13, 2010
Nashville, TN Feb 19, 2010
Memphis, TN Feb 20, 2010
Tulsa, OK Mar 13, 2010 Million Dollar Elm Casino (Interesting choice...)
Erie, PA Mar 20, 2010
Indianapolis, IN Mar 26, 2010 w/ Montel
Milwaukee, WI Mar 29, 2010 w/ Montel
Baltimore, MD Mar 31, 2010 w/ Montel
Coquitlam, BC Apr 9, 2010

ETA2: I've offered help in working with the video, but it'd be an amateur attempt. DownloadHelper is no help though.

She's got tons of money already doesn't she? Why doesn't she just quit? I don't understand what keeps her going at this point.

Maybe since most people live within their means she doesn't have the cash we think she does. She could be spending it all on homes, cars, luxuries, and whatnot. Not that that excuses all she's made these past decades, but it could be she is not cash rich.

Probably for some of the same reasons anyone we view as filthy rich continues to amass a fortune. Why does Warren Buffett continue increasing his fortune? Bill Gates? Martha Stewart?

As much as I loathe The Klaws and her ilk, I think it's silly to harp on the fact that she already has enough money, she should just stop. Probably none of us would, in the same situation.

I poked around on that site and went into the Forum section. There's a REALLY disturbing letter from a woman named Dawn who'd gotten a reading with Chris, and is near-suicidal now because he didn't really answer any of her questions, she spent a ton of money she could ill-afford to pay on the reading, and he told her that she hasn't met the man she's supposed to be with, yet.

So she's destroying her relationship with a guy she's dating now, based on this reading. And from her description, the man she's currently with is a really nice guy. The other posters are no help, piling onto what Chris told her.

Here's the link, if anyone's interested in wading through it:

http://www.sylviabrowne.com/forum/v...408553615475&category=1&order=reverse&start=0

a REALLY good example of how phony psychics can cause harm.

I wish some hacker would access that site and change the forum section title to "Dear Sylvia: **** You, Ugly Hag."

Just sayin'.

ETA: Just to be clear, I'm not actually advocating this. 'Twas a joke before, was all.

I agree totally and utterly with you.

In that no-one should do such a thing. That would be wrong.

Specifically no-one should attempt to hack Sylvia Brown's web site and alter the text to make her appear more like the despicable creature some people believe her to be.

That should certainly not be encouraged, in fact I would go so far as to say such a thing should be actively frowned upon.

Hacking Sylvia Brown's website, the very idea. Goodness me, that would be naughty and bad.

So nobody do that.
