Hello,
I have frequently read claims that TM Sidhi purports to teach people how to fly, become invisible, and walk through walls. Is this information officially published somewhere? Has Maharishi been quoted saying these things.
I found a page that collects a lot of quotes from him. While some of them are obscurantist, utopianistic, or just plain strange, a lot of them are charmingly appealing.
But, I do feel that his organization is not founded on true science, but rather on his charisma and his charm. He seems to offer "scientifically verified" solutions to world problems with simple meditation, yet I've never seen any real evidence of this.
I grew up being intrigued by science, especially Carl Sagan's works, but also interested in Maharishi because a family member was interested in it and practiced TM. I never practiced it myself, and certainly doubt flying, levitating, invisibility, etc. Truly ridiculous stuff.
Are there any very good articles or links aside from TranceNet and the like that expose any bizarre things about TM and Maharishi? Anything in a major publication?
I am writing some articles that compare the reasoned, humble, willing-to-admit-fault, human approach of someone like Sagan to the larger-than-life, absolutely-perfect, cult-of-personality persona of Maharishi.
Thank you,
Josh
