It's not all woo woo .The concepts of super conduction and maglev is as real as cheese. It may smell a little funny but it works. The idea of the materials used in superconductors are surprising , they are non-ferro-magnetic, non-metalic ( except for minor doping) ceramics. The bugaboo is like man made experimental fusion, the energy expended ( in the majority) exceeds by magnitudes the energy or effect produced. . The holy Grail in this field is high temperature superconductors, which unlike room temperature fusion is seemingly attainable.

Thats not the experiments they are talking about. What they are talking about is a very complex experiment where you spin a superconducting magnet really fast, and the gravitational field above the magnet is supposed to be reduced (seperate from the effect of magnetism).
