Here is another email I just received:

This is the saddest excuse for a website I have seen. I am sorry that you are
so filled with hate, and lack of energy for your own life. Fight with love not
hate. It is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die.

Here is my reply:

Ms. [LastName]:

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me.

I do indeed hate what Sylvia Browne does. It is reprehensible and downright evil, the way she lies to people who are in vulnerable points in their lives (such as the parents of missing children), and who have come to her seeking help.

But my site is not about hate. It is about a love of the truth. It is about helping people to see the actual evidence about Sylvia Browne. Not what their friends tell them. Not what Montel says about her. Not what her publishers write about her. But the actual evidence: what she says. What she does. And comparing those with the actual outcome of her predictions and readings.

Have you actually read some of the articles on the site, or are you just closed-mindedly saying, in effect, "I don't care what the evidence shows, my mind is already made up!"? I honestly don't know how someone could read through much of what is on my site and not come to the conclusion that there is far more reason to doubt Sylvia Browne's claimed "abilities" than there is to believe in them. I invite you to take the time to actually read through some of the site. Then do your own research to check my facts (I try to provide references, such as quotes from her books, audio and video clips, and links to further related web pages where pssible). And, if you find anything that is untrue or inaccurate on the site, please let me know, so that I can correct or retract it. If you cannot point to anything untrue or inaccurate, I don't know the cause for your anger about the site. And, do you know of even a SINGLE documented case where Browne was correct (or even MOSTLY correct) about a missing person or murder case? If you do, please let me know of it so that I can write it up for the site. If you DON'T know of such a case, perhaps you should consider whether your belief in Browne's abilities is based on evidence, or just in your desire for her "abilities" to be real.

I also don't see how someone could read through your site and call you hateful. I, personally, find your way of approaching these claims respectful - something which appears to be thought amongst the "true believers" if you count your acceptance into their varying groups as the "house skeptic".

But then, I guess emails tirades like this are par for the course.

Actually, I receive remarkably few like this.
 
Your site definitely did not come across as hateful to me when I first happened upon it several years ago. I'm not sure how I came to it, but at that point in my life I was still undecided as to whether or not psychics were real. I started reading and found I couldn't stop. The site was clearly dedicated to finding the truth, and was not out to personally attack Sylvia.

I know that, with my frame of mind at the time, that I would have been swayed towards Sylvia's side if it was a hateful diatribe of unreasoned lies. The way you respectfully wrote and presented everything made it clear that you were seeking answers. This really got me thinking about psychics and then the paranormal in general.

Now that I think about it, that's the reason I'm on the forum now. When you stopped updating your site I became concerned and started googling for some information as to why. I found the thread on here about your stroke. I mostly lurked for a while, keeping an eye on your progress and quietly wishing you the best. Over time I started getting a bit braver and reading the other threads.

I've given up second-guessing which angry ones will reply and which ones won't.

But it seems that most of those who do, back off of much of their anger, and many even change their minds about Browne. Maybe this woman will be one...

I arrived at stopsylvia early on too, having always been sceptical, but never really questioning it, and the site was like a free pass to me, to say 'yeah, it was bunkum after all'. I think the way Robert dealt with it all made it more fascinating than it would have been if full of hatred!

Kind of you to say - thanks! I have received many email on SSB which start with something like "I srarted came to your site expecting you to be just another "hater". Then I started reading the articles, and found that you really have a lot of evidence to back up what you say! I just wanted to thank you..."

Now that I think about it, that's the reason I'm on the forum now. When you stopped updating your site I became concerned and started googling for some information as to why. Spot on, that's what it was. :D Just to add I found this place due to a link to some Uri Gellar palaver on youtube. Lucky I clicked that link, I found Swift, which led to here and SS within days. I've never looked back!
 
How much hate does one have to have to wrongly tell parents that their son is dead?

Who would have thought that I would have found such a gem of a dear friend when I entered that JE forum, almost last century?

And how proud can you be to know a guy who was whining to you on the phone today that he was about to wet himself?

I don't think that is hate so much as it is utter disdain, combined with a total lack of compassion.

And it isn't so much that she wrongly told them, but that she told them anything when she didn't really know.
 
Actually, I hope she recovers ... well enough to recant her lies and repent of her evil ways.

Yeah ... I know ... total cornball sentimentality ... but what better refutation of her deceptive life than with her own words?
