I just got through reading this old thread where I first announced the then-upcoming Stop Sylvia Browne site. Fun to read what we said about it then in light of all that has happened since!

Well, when you clicked on the icon and it said "coming soon!" and it took bloody forever! Just kidding, Robert! It was worth the wait. :)

Actually, it was more positive than I remembered. In some thread back then, I got a lot of negative comments, like "Kaz was one thing, but Sylvia is so entrenched, she won't even know your site exists!"

Oh, that's TOO funny! Look what happened! In no time she was whining on Montel about "lousy bloggers".

I think it is sometimes good to read old stuff about what people think. You definitely achieved more than what some people thought you could.

Look out for the panic of psychics when you start updating your website again. You may not have power, but you do have influence. As much as you want.

I reckon this is kinda pathetic..

"Given all that, I firmly believe that Sylvia Browne has not shown that she has "real psychic powers", and that she should either prove them, or stop pretending she has them."

To me, it just sounds like your jealous and full of envy..

Whether or not she has abilities, you want her to be a lab rat to increase your knowledge on such abilities - when it actually takes one-self to understand them within you, not a lab or a scientist and jealous she has them and you dont.
Or you dont want her making a living from it, given there are many forms of scammers out there who can act really well, maybe something else you wish you could do.
If the info she gives you helps, it helps, if it doesn't ask for your money back. If no money was exchanged you dont have a case to hold, except your envy is getting the better of you.

Wheres the stop John Edward site? why pick on her?

SHE WAS ON TV AND I WASN'T MUMMY!!!

Anyway my little rant on why you should just stop and leave it be, why waste your bloody time?

Yes, I'm following you. I joined this forum just to follow you, and to throw people off the scent, I joined several months before you. My psychic powers are that strong.

I joined knowing this was gonna happen, whose are more advanced? :P

I decided to go back and just take a quick look, but once I started reading it was difficult to stop. I haven't finished the entire thread but I will later today.

Because of a couple of unimportant reasons, the past few years I have been watching more TV during the day then I used to. There was a time that it seemed many afternoons when I would turn on the tv, there was SB with Montel, spewing her - well, spew. The past couple of years I have seen her now and then, but it has been on an infocommercial with Montel and - I think - a juicer.

I strongly believe that this is directly linked to the StopSylvia site.

When I go back to finish reading the thread, this may be answered, but I am curious if anyone has ever filed a lawsuit against SB, and if so what the outcome was.

You are making all sorts of unfounded judgments and painting with a VERY broad brush. And what the heck makes you think he's wasting his time? The site has been quite effective. Never mind, I don't want to know how your mind works.

Also, please spell and grammar check so we can better understand you.

And Sledge is right, all these question have been answered again and again.

Oh, and Strawman Fallacy, right? Sort of? Saying there is envy when there is no evidence of that and that isn't even the point of the "argument."

Yet you posted it anyway - bravo!

Rory, have you read any of the site beyond the first page?

Whether or not she has abilities, you want her to be a lab rat to increase your knowledge on such abilities - when it actually takes one-self to understand them within you, not a lab or a scientist and jealous she has them and you dont.
Again Rory, read the site. It is pretty obvious that Browne either has no "abilities", or has chosen to cleverly hide them.

Or you dont want her making a living from it, given there are many forms of scammers out there who can act really well, maybe something else you wish you could do.
No, I actually have no wish to do what she does, which is prey on emotionally vulnerable people. Sure, I wish I made the kind of money she does, but not if it meant lying to the parents of missing children about their child.

If the info she gives you helps, it helps, if it doesn't ask for your money back. If no money was exchanged you dont have a case to hold, except your envy is getting the better of you.[/nclusion that BrQUOTE]
You seem to beunder the impression that I have had a "reading" with Browne. I have not, nor do I intend to.

Wheres the stop John Edward site? why pick on her?
Rory, please read my site's Frequently Asked Questions page.

SHE WAS ON TV AND I WASN'T MUMMY!!!
Actually, I have been. Anderson Cooper did a segment about Browne's supposed "abilities", and I briefly appeared.

Anyway my little rant on why you should just stop and leave it be, why waste your bloody time?
It hasn't been a waste of my time at all. It has helped many people to come to the conclusion that Browne isn't what she claims to be. I frequently receive "thank you" emails from such people.

Again Rory, read the site. It is pretty obvious that Browne either has no "abilities", or has chosen to cleverly hide them.

Now that premise would be an interesting one for another Stop site, wouldn't it? Instead of making a site that points out that someone is a fraud, create a site that says, "Amazing Judy, we believe you are a psychic. We believe your powers are real. Why are you hiding them? Everywhere we look you seem to be deliberately masking your powers." Then present the same type of evidence as usual. You could even have a petition asking that she stop deliberately giving incorrect readings and let the world see her gifts.

That would leave both the skeptics and the woos scratching their heads.

RSLancastr's post shows why I admire the person. He is in a bad way physically and mentally (as outlined in several threads he has started). A person heaps criticism on RSLancastr's website and the response is a calm and reasonable. Not too many people do that here.

I like UncaYimmy's idea. It is very funny.

What if a psychic could heal you, but you had to believe in them to do so, or else they wouldn't use there psi powers to do it? and in the end it turns out, their psi powers really did work, you are healed. You would join the group of 'woos' along side of them, as it can only be proven to you, in a sense. But given you've gone to all the effort to bring a psychic, whether or not a fraud, down you might not get the chance and have to wait in line for treatment at your local hospital, which in any chance isn't so bad either is it? we trust the system to do the right thing, as the world continues to grow in demand.

Well, I suppose it's technically possible. It's odd that no psychics have ever managed to heal anyone in the past, so I don't think it's worth banking on.

If you're healed, of course it can be proven to others. That's how we know psychics have never managed to heal anyone. They're like homoeopaths in that respect.
