Stephen King was taking an early morning surf near the village of Angourie in New South Wales when the shark swam up and lunged at him.

He quickly pulled his legs out of the water, saving them from major injury, and escaped with only minor puncture wounds.

His board fared less well, ending up with a large chunk out of one side and in two pieces.

Mr King said: "There was just a bang from the side and I went cartwheeling through the air, then there was this thrashing beside me.

"I'm probably the luckiest guy on two legs at the moment. Yeah, unbelievable," he added as he showed off his damaged board.

ha no, not that Stephen King, there's more than one yanno
:D

The books the incident inspired will be published Monday, and the movie is in production.

King didn't appear in "Lawnmower Man" and it decidedly sucked.

I'm sure the REAL Stephen King will be inspired to write a new book, and I have no doubt that some unexplained evil entity will be possessing the shark!

At the end of the movie adaptation the audience will sit there and think "Wait, that's it? What about... oh, never mind..."

Carrie. Carrie didn't suck in the way that most all his other adaptations sucked. King also did't appear in that one. Coincidence?

Did King appear in Misery? It might not have been the best adaptation, but the movie was well enough, same with "The Shining".

Why is The Dead Zone always forgotten? I think it's the best of them. No SK cameo if I'm not mistaken.

King did not appear in Misery so far as I recall.

"not the best adaptation"? To the contrary, I mark "Misery" as when Stephen King movies attained a higher level of quality.
