Split From: What should be my one free question?

I can't imagine there would be any legal issues so long as no one caught you or saw you doing it. Or if you had permission from Barnes & Noble.

You'd be committing a tort against the book store. I'm not sure what it would be. Depending on your jurisdiction it might be - interference with a business relationship or tresspass for a non-commercial purpose or something.

It's a bad idea.

Here's another one: Self-publish a book, stand at the door of the bookstore and inform people that with their purchase they get your book as a free gift.
It's about as silly as putting fliers in the Browne books.
