While dipping through snopes recently, I came across this term for the first time:
slacktivism:
Expressing a political opinion [solely] in an effort-free and ineffective way.

I immediately recognised myself as a do-nothing-er. I haven't yet fallen for one the forwarding/collecting scams, but my efforts end at talking and the occasional (small) financial contributions. I enjoy the rush of righteous indignation from a forum or email debate without troubling myself to actually do anything.
So, as human beings, how much effort 'should' we be putting into righting the wrongs around us, and what form would that best take?

its key defining characteristic is its central theme of doing good with little or no effort on the part of person inspired to participate in the forwarding, exhorting, collecting, or e-signing.
