I assume the CT crowd will be all over this story:

A WHISTLEBLOWER has made a series of extraordinary claims about how corrupt government officials allowed Pakistan and other states to steal nuclear weapons secrets.

The charges themselves are a little murky, but the story does get into some of 9-11 aspects:

The Pakistani operation was led by General Mahmoud Ahmad, then the ISI chief.

Intercepted communications showed Ahmad and his colleagues stationed in Washington were in constant contact with attachés in the Turkish embassy.

Intelligence analysts say that members of the ISI were close to Al-Qaeda before and after 9/11. Indeed, Ahmad was accused of sanctioning a $100,000 wire payment to Mohammed Atta, one of the 9/11 hijackers, immediately before the attacks.

No doubt we will start hearing that the Sunday Times confirmed this accusation, when all they did here was repeat it. I hope that some enterprising reporter will take up this aspect of the story and either confirm or deny it. The $100,000 wire transfer immediately before the attacks makes little sense; Atta was actually wiring small sums out of the US just before the attacks.

There's more, including a claim that a senior State Department official assisted in getting some people suspected of knowledge of the attacks out of the country. BradBlog, which has been pushing the Sibel Edmonds story, names the official although the Sunday Times does not.

Uh oh.

I hate to be pernickety, but you do know that it's actually just called "The Sunday Times", don't you? And contrary to North American mythology the weekday equivalent is just "The Times"?

RedIbis, I know it is asking a lot, similar to screaming at the niagara falls to do a backward somersault whilst touching its non-existent finger to its non-existent nose, but do you think you could manage to add anything of value to this forum?

Ever?

And if I just say Sunday Times everybody in the US will assume NY Times.

So twoofers....we're all agreed then that there were in fact Islamic terrorists on the flights?

Will the liars ever notice that Sibel Edmonds never says anything remoteful useful to their deranged cause?

Their willingness to dismiss the videos of Bin Laden, hundreds of other videos released by Al Qeada in the last two decades, and Ramzi BinAlShib's confession to Al Jazeera, giving the rather vague claim that 'We don't know where they come from' (Lots of people indeed do), yet decide an unsourced paragraph in the Times of India is gospel, reminds me of this Mark Steel extract..

What I find funny is this,

Sibel Edmonds, a 37-year-old former Turkish language translator for the FBI, listened into hundreds of sensitive intercepted conversations while based at the agency’s Washington field office.

She is a translator, how would she know a real problem from a sting operation?
Or false intelligence?
She does not have the Knowledge or training to tell the difference.

One thing that this story illustrates is that when criminal or even questionable activities take place within US government departments, they usually don't remain secrets for very long.
It is rather troubling to think that nuclear technology may have been channeled to rogue states from inside US agencies, but the fact that Ms. Edmonds story is being taken seriously by the press points how hard it is to keep anything secret, let alone the kind of conspiracy it would have taken to pull off attacks like those of 9-11 and make it look like anything other than what it was: al Qaeda terrorists hijacking 4 airliners and using them as weapons.

Brainster, how about calling it Britains "The Times" newspaper?
There are several regional editions of The Times including a Scottish one. In the case of this newspaper, London does happen to be the hq of the parent company. But there are other newspapers, which I've seen erroneously labelled "The London ..." (including The Guardian, which has its central offices in Manchester).

Anyway, I knew very little about the Sibel Edmonds story, so thanks for your thread. :)

Sunday Times is owned by News International which is headed by Rupert Murdoch who is a member of the NWO, Bilderberg, Illuminati, subscriber to 'World Domination Monthly' and is, quite possibly, a shapeshifting reptoid.

Hmmmmm what to think....what to think......

(Some of the above may not be entirely factually correct)

Think people she was analyzing pre 9/11 intelligence, remember the hard drive that disappeared from LOS Alamos, or the other Nuclear espionage cases under the Clinton administration?
There were a lot of investigations and sting operations going on at the time the tapes were made.

and elvis was accused of being the devil himself

It is a disturbing thought that if Giuliani becomes President, the Illuminati/Bilderberg/Freemason crowd will probably accuse him of being the Devil With a Blue Dress On.

A mostly non-CT take on the story from a liberal blogger who's been following the Sibel Edmonds case.

Crazy Chainsaw, I tend to agree that Edmonds, as a contract translator for about six months, probably lacked the background info to understand all that she heard and put so many of the pieces together.

Dangit, Pomeroo!
Now I'm gonna have that silly song in my head for the rest of the day!:mgduh

Wait, are we to believe that a country who mostly supports the Taliban and Islamic extremism may have had employees who were close to Al Qaeda? What a shocker!!!!

almost as big as last months revelation that the CIA keeps secrets

Even though I don't buy Edmonds story for many reasons, It would not surprise me if in the end, 20-30 years from now, we discover that elements of ISI were involved in supporting the 9/11 attacks.

Still not LIHOP/MIHOP though.
