I just tried to book a shuttle reservation from the airport to the South Point. My flight arrives tomorrow at 9:13 p.m. The reservationist said the last scheduled shuttle leaves the airport at 9:30 and it is booked solid. There are no other South Point shuttles after 9:30. Bummer. I guess I'll have to take a cab.

Our flight gets in at like 1 am tomorrow night, so the shuttle won't be running. The hotel said a cab is somewhere between $16 and $22, so at least it's not terribly expensive.

Yeah, a cab should run you somewhere under $25. There's a $3 extra fee if you have to use a credit card in the cab - be sure to ask the guy calling cabs at the curb if you need a credit-card-capable one.

I found the shuttle to be similarly inflexible. I get in at around 4pm tomorrow, and the next available shuttle was for 5:15.

The hotel literature should read "We have an airport shuttle for your inconvenience."

well and check the thread on flights in and out...because many people are arranging to share a cab.

I'm scheduled to take the 4:15pm shuttle on Weds. My flight is showing that it might arrive early, and I might be able to take the 2:45pm shuttle if they have space. They will take "walk-ins" if they have space, but there's no guarantee. I took it last year and had no problems, and it's almost free, if you include tips.

Since Vegas works on grift and payola (and I say that with love), if the shuttle is "full", saunter up to the driver, fiver in hand, folded over twice to be subtle but with the amount showing (style counts) and say "Room for one more?"

What could it hurt?

You didn't hear this from me, but last year someone who wasn't on their reservation list boarded the shuttle like they belonged there and no "rollcall" was made. You could take a chance of that if you get in during shuttle hours.

(we didn't have this conversation...)

I only have about 25 minutes between my flight landing and the shuttle I booked. I know it's going to be a little tight, but I'm not checking any luggage. My question is, will it be obvious where the shuttle is? What are the chances I could be running around the airport aimlessly trying to find it?

when I made my reservation for the shuttle, I was told that it's level 0 and that I should look for the spaces numbered 16-23. I don't know what that means yet though.

The notice I received from the South Point stated the following:

"South Point’s Airport Shuttle from McCarran Airport should be met at Ground (or Level) Zero. The shuttle is white and blue and has very distinguished South Point logos on it. When returning to the airport, the shuttle from the South Point picks up in Valet which is located at the east entrance of the hotel."

I hope that helps.

There is also a shuttle for the newer casino just south of South Point (M?). Last year the driver was sitting around with nothing to do and offerred to drop us at South Point for no charge (yes, we tipped him). Worst case, a cab from M to South Point would be much cheaper. :)

You go through Baggage Claim and down the Level 0 escalator. I think the escalator is near one of the Baggage Claim exits. Hope this helps.

Our experience with the hotel shuttle... The driver was driving like a lunatic NASCAR wannabe and apparently didn't latch the cargo door correctly. A taxi flagged him down on the freeway coming out of the airport to tell him that he was losing luggage. The driver drove even more manically back to the airport so we could see if any luggage was still on the road to be picked up. After we got to the hotel it was discovered that a family here for the BMX Nationals had lost their luggage, but at least they had the kid's bike so he could still compete. I'm never taking that shuttle again.
