Shuttle or taxi from airport to hotel

I will be available for as often and as long as possible to pick up folks from the airport, and I plan to set aside all three days from my business to work for the JREF and the meeting.

However, I will have several things to do at the meeting, but will duck out to the airport as often as possible. I will be using my Windstar Van that has four captain's chairs and a rear bench, which I plan to leave out to allow room for baggage for the three folks I can haul at one time.

A cab trip from Ft. Laud. airport to my home normally costs me about $25.00, and it is three miles or so from the hotel, which is right off of I 595. Figure a little less for the hotel, maybe $22.00 or so plus tip. There are always taxis available at all terminals, so you will not have to worry about transportation if a JREF shuttle is not immediately available.

There may also be some other folks who can do some shuttle work, and I will talk with Linda to see if I can provide coordination of same. We want to make your trip as nice and as fun as possible.

My cell phone # 954-448-8390.

Actually, if you're staying at the Plantation, they'll come pick you up for free themselves with their own shuttle! (And I'll need it -- I'm landing about 6:30pm on Friday!) All you have to do is call the hotel when you've landed and tell them which airline you've taken (and probably some other important information I've forgotten). Cool, eh? We're staying in a class establishment! :)

Regardless, I'd like to thank CSSMariner for stepping up and volunteering to do this. It will be much appreciated.

thanks!

I was not aware that the Renaissance had a shuttle, but it is a class act after all. In any case I will be available, and thank you Girl6, looking forward to meeting you. Just for the record, and in case you didn't know it already, my name is Ken.

Y'all have a safe trip, ya' hear? :D

Oh, yes, my apologies for not including it in my earlier post. Kudos to CSSMariner (a,k.a. "Ken"!) for offering his services. I smell beer!

Er, I mean I think Ken will be bought a beer by whomever he picks up, not that he smells like beer...

Er, by "pick up," I mean at the airport... er, and I mean an attendee of the ... actually, I mean he... oh, never mind!

There's no such thing as a free lunch.

Well, that's not exactly the information they sent me. Here's a copy of the info from the e-mail they sent me regarding the "Super Shuttle:"
The hotel does not offer an airport shuttle, but they offer the following information.
SUPER SHUTTLE: RESERVATIONS RECOMMENDED ... $10 - $15
TAXI SERVICE: $15 - $20
Doesn't looks so "super" to me. The cost could very well be the same as a cab, and you'd probably have to wait on it (as opposed to a cab). Looks like if Ken is available and isn't charging, he's our best bet. I'd certainly buy him a beer or three.

Hey Ken, thanks for the offer. Alas, Eddie and I will be arriving in Ft. Lauderdale about midnight on Tuesday. Our plan is to rent a car.
Our offer is pretty much the same as Ken's. If you'd like picked up at the airport, feel free to pm me with your arrival time.

Crap! Now I've gotta call them and straighten them out. I was given my information by the chirpy desk attendant when I called. GRR!!!

Er, my plane lands at 6:30pm on Friday -- anyone want to shuttle me? :D Gas, tolls and booze money offered!

Okay, I'm staying at the Plantation and my plane arrives at noon on Thursday. Any chance for a ride, or do I need to do the shuttle/taxi thing? Will chip in for gas of course. Either way, Ken you're the coolest for making yourself available this way.

Off the wall thought...........

Is there some visible sign everyone could wear to make identification easier, or a highly visible landmark in the airport terminal where you could meet up in case you miss each other in the rush and crowd?

Discuss.

How about they print their avatars off and pin them on their shirts or lapels or jackets? :)

Noon Thursday may be a stretch, and it depends on how much load I have from our customers. Nonetheless, I think lunch will not be too much trouble. My cell phone # is on this thread, give me a call when you get in and I will tell you at that time.

My gunmetal gray '99 Ford Windstar has a white Delta Marine International logo that has a very distinctive gold anchor in the delta that is surrounded by a gold ring on the hood and each rear side window. The arrivals/baggage pickup is on the lower floor of all four terminals, so everyone should be on the lower levels rather than upper which will make it easier.

I will try to accommodate all I can consistent with self-employment, so call my cell phone, it is always within an arms reach of where I am at any given time. I just want to be as much help as possible for The Man.

I will say again to all who are arriving by air, call my cell phone, 954-448-8390. That is the single best way to get to me, and I will do all I can.

Cheers, and have a safe trip.

Thanks CSS. I'll give you a call when I get in, and if you're unavailable I'll call for the hotel shuttle.

Now if I can just figure out how to get to the radio show. :D

If you are staying in Plantation, you may ride with me as I live in Plantation about 30 blocks or so from the meeting site. There are three captain's chairs, so with you there are only two left. Any takers? I usually go to the JREF about 8:00 PM on thursdays.

How's that????

Free Shuttle

I watched the hotel video and it said there is a free shuttle. Being skeptical....I e-mailed these humans and they advised me that there is in fact a 24 hour complimentary shuttle with a phone at the baggage claim area. See you there.

The link to the video in the other thread was for the wrong hotel. Be sure you e-mail the right place. The AM is at the Renaissance Fort Lauderdale-Plantation Hotel. There is also a Renaissance Fort Lauderdale Hotel, so it's easy to confuse the two.

Shuttle to Plantation

I did recieve an e-mail from them that indicated that it was the Renaissance Ft. Lauderdale / Plantation
With any luck at all, I will be at the right hotel. Thanks for your concern.

I'm renting a convertible, I think I'll have room for one more with luggage and all that.

If any large breasted skepchicks need a ride, I'll be in Thursday evening.

Oh hell, I'm such a softie...

if any small breasted skepchicks need a ride, let me know. ;)
