Two female teenagers in Pakistan have been murdered by family members after a video emerged online of them associating with a man.

The pair, said to be aged 16 and 18, were shot dead by male relatives in their remote village in Pakistan’s North Waziristan province this week after footage was posted online of them in the company of a young man in a secluded area.

Honour Killings are depraved and I am glad that Pakistan has changed the law that allowed men to get away with it and that it carries a mandatory life sentence.

I hope they rot in their cells because I doubt they will ever understand their wrong doing.

I'm more cynical than you. Not only do I think they won't understand their wrongdoing, from their perspective it wasn't wrong. From their perspective, living with the shame of their relative's actions would be worse than rotting in their cells. Now they will be admired, and that's more important than their freedom.

I knew there must have been more to the story and there is: not only were they "associating with a man", they were also kissing him! Or at least two of them were.

A man who filmed himself kissing two girls who were later murdered in a so-called "honour killing" has been arrested, police in Pakistan have said.

Umar Ayaz, 28, is charged with making the video, according to a police statement seen by the BBC.

The father of one of the girls and another three of their relatives were arrested for failing to report the killings and concealing evidence.

The man believed to have carried out the murders remains at large.

Police say they are looking for Mohammad Aslam, and have also arrested another man on whose phone the footage was shot and who has been charged with sharing the video.

The teenage girls, cousins aged 16 and 18, are said to have been shot dead by the suspected killer last week in the village of Shaam Plain Garyom on the border of North and South Waziristan tribal districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
