3 killed, 2 wounded in shooting at Maryland office park, authorities say

CNN said:
A gunman is on the loose after shooting five people -- killing three -- at a Maryland home-remodeling business on Wednesday morning, authorities say.

Radee Labeeb Prince, 37, is believed to have shot five people at Advanced Granite Solutions at the Emmorton Business Park in Edgewood, roughly 30 miles northeast of Baltimore, Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler told reporters in a news conference.

The five people shot are believed to be employees of the business, and the two injured were taken to a hospital Wednesday morning, Gahler said.

UPDATE: Radee Labeeb Prince, the suspect in Wednesday morning's shooting at a business in Maryland, also is a suspect in a shooting that happened later in the morning in Wilmington, Delaware, said Jeffrey Gahler, sheriff of Harford County, Maryland.

Prince still is on the loose, and is believed to be driving a 2008 black GMC Acadia with Delaware license plate PC64273, Gahler said.

Gahler didn't offer details about the shooting in Wilmington.

Prince worked at the Maryland business, Advanced Granite Solutions in Edgewood, for the last four months, and he was scheduled to work there Wednesday, Gahler said...

DailyMail said:
Little is known about Prince, although he appears to have had a home and family in Delaware - and an extensive criminal record.

In 2003 he pleaded guilty to 15 counts of third-degree burglary, for which he received a substantial prison sentence, Gahler said.

In March 2015 he was arrested on four gun violations: illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; illegal possession of a registered firearm; illegal possession of a firearm; and having a handgun in a vehicle. None of those charges were prosecuted.

And in February of this year a peace order was filed against him in Harford County, in which Advanced Granite Solutions is based...

Also reported to be a 6th victim shot three times in Delaware by Prince about two hours after the Maryland shootings. I'm not seeing reports on the condition of the latest victim.

About an hour and 45 minutes later, Prince is suspected to have shot another person in the in the 2800 block of Northeast Boulevard (Wilmington, Delaware).

Wilmington officials have released few details concerning this shooting, other than to say the victim was alert after the incident.

Witnesses, however, said the owner of a car lot and auto detailer in Wilmington was shot multiple times at his business by a man who fled in a black truck or Jeep.

One employee of the car lot said the owner was sitting behind his desk talking to a customer when the shooter came into his office and opened fire.

"He walked right behind me, said something to the girl that works here, Ebony, that's why they know who it is," said the employee who requested anonymity. "He walked in there and shot [the owner]. Didn't say a word, just shot him. His gun jammed, and [the owner's] already shot, and tried to crawl and get out of there, and he shot him four more times."

The employee noted that the car lot, 28th Street Auto Sales, has numerous cameras both outside and inside...

Have they caught him yet?

Stricter gun laws -or outright bans- won't change anything if we're not going to prosecute violations.

I dunno if lack of prosecution is really the problem here. The first item listed was "illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon". He knew it was illegal when he got the firearm in the first place. It kind of falls back toward the "then only the criminals will have the guns" side of things. I mean, I don't really get the impression that prosecution was something that he was really worried about.

At the car dealership in Wilmington...

CNN said:
Radee Labeeb Prince shot the male victim in Delaware twice, striking him in the head, shortly before 11 a.m., said Wilmington Police Chief Robert Tracy. The victim, who knew Prince, gave police Prince's name and a description of his vehicle, Tracy said. Police spotted the vehicle leaving the scene and began a pursuit but lost it.

Fired from a previous job in February because of threatening behavior...

ABC News said:
A man who police say shot six people he knew in Maryland and Delaware, killing three of them, had scared a previous employer so badly that the man tried to get a restraining order against him.

A Harford County judge denied the February request by Philip Siason of JPS Marble and Granite. The judge said Siason didn't meet the required burden of proof for the order.

Siason had told the court Prince punched a co-worker and was fired. Prince later told Siason he'd been provoked and wanted his job back. He also sought unemployment payments. Siason notified an agency inquiring about unemployment benefits that Prince had been fired and that he was working for another company.

Siason said that after that, Prince "came to see me, cursed and yelled ... I felt very threatened because he is a big guy and very aggressive on me."

Siason told the court that he was aware that Prince illegally possessed guns.

Saison said Prince "did not hurt me physically, but I do not want to wait 'til he will. Plus, he already punched a co-worker."

There are questions that weren't comprehensively answered by Campos and Schuck on DeGeneres.

What and where was the door that sounded the ajar alarm?

Did Campos really hear drilling (before getting shot), or was that the sound of gunfire aimed at the crowd?

One of the cool things about guns is that they can help get rid of people you really, really don't like.

So the business hired this guy despite his very lengthy criminal history. Were they trying to give a convict a chance at rehab, or had the guy somehow concealed his past?

As noted, with that history and with previous convictions for illegal possession, yet he apparently has no problems obtaining a firearm and using it.

And then when confronted he’s simply strolling around and is easily captured. You have to wonder about the sanity aspect.

Way too true!!!! Wondering why they did not - he sounds like a poster boy for jailing.

There's a clip of the sheriffs from Harford county here in the Independent. Amazing hats!

I had to look this up on Google as it was hardly reported in the UK. I guess mass killings are commonplace in the US these days.

Disgruntled ex-employee is the next category along from 'high school misfit' and 'paranoid survivalist'.

Way back in the 1600's, 1700's and 1800's, criminals were often transported to the colonies from Britain. Is there something genetic that causes so much crime in the USA?
