Shaving Time Saves Nine

You aren't dictating what's best for the free market by suggesting government intervention, are you? ;)

I think there should be a law against payroll shaving, which should be enforced by the government, so yes.

There is a law against that and when it is brought to court with proper evidence the law gets enforced what more do you need?

Shaving time...

Crooks used to "shave coins" in the Middle Ages, but nowadays the coins aren't made of gold anymore. Luckily, some gentlemen seem to have remembered that time is money too...

I think you've misunderstood me. There are some who think that the government shouldn't interfere with the free market in any way, shape, or form. They would have existing laws that 'interfere' with the free market rescinded, as well as avoid having new ones implemented. I'm saying this is an example of why we need some sort of regulation in the marketplace.

Who are these people? Heck even shanek would agree that this is wrong.

I don't think anyone would argue that point. I don't think anyone, no matter how pro-business their views would argue that a company should be allowed to work you for 40 hours then only pay you for 30, especially since payroll shaving involves fraud in the form of falsifying documents to make it look like you worked less hours than you did. It's a non-issue, in my opinion.

All the Enron bookkeepers amd accountants had to go to work somewhere, now didn't they?

Even the most extreme Randroid agrees with the notion that theft should be illegal.

A 'free market' implies agreed upon rules, albeit minimal regulation.

And how shall these rules be policed? Those who are for the 'free market' (and there's no need to name shanek, he's hardly alone in his opinions) believe that the market should be self-regulated. This sort of behaviour is evidence that the market can't be trusted to regulate itself.

That's what courts are for, both parties go there and present their case and the store would lose because that was fraud.

You have odd interpretation of free market and regulation. You seem to think that free market=no laws and regulation=laws.

It isn't my invention, believe me.
