I'm a total layman in scientific matters. When an idea, for one reason or another, seems "controversial" to me, I usually cheat it by going to skeptic sites and reading threads. Really, though, this seems to be an okay way to make a quick and dirty analysis on a lot of things.
Some days, though, I want to play honest-to-god skeptic, and get the raw data. It's recently occurred to me that I don't really know how to do that.
How do I know what studies to trust and what ones not to? What's a good way to do an internet search for peer-reviewed papers? Maybe I have to...omg...get off the internet and go to a university library? Where does one find these "meta-analyses" that we hear so much about?
any comments appreciated,
