Herman Cain says he might run for president again

NEW ORLEANS -- Herman Cain, who ended his 2012 presidential campaign amid allegations of multiple affairs, said Saturday that he might run for president again in 2016.

Cain, in a speech at the Republican Leadership Conference here, brought up the prospect of another run toward the end of his speech. He then suggested he would do it if he were called by God.

“I do not know what the future holds, but I know who holds the future," the Georgia businessman said. "And I trust in God.”

...

God is messing with Herman's head again.

Or Herman is messing with the the media.

He has no intention of making a serious attempt at the presidency. He might, however, decide that the publicity and donations associated with a campaign are valuable commodities that can be had for a song.

With his money, connections, and name recognition, there are any number of elections Herman Cain would have a decent chance of winning if he was actually interested in public service- e.g. governor or a US Senate seat. I suspect he likes running for office a lot more than he'd like having to do the job.

God keeps telling all these guys to run for president and then makes them lose. He's a meanie.

You'd think some of the believers would catch on that The Big Guy seems to tell four or five different candidates every election to run. Is God a closet liberal who's getting his kicks watching the shenanigans at the GOP debates? Or, as the song asked, What if God Was One of Us?

Are you not entertained!?!?!?

Why do so many liberals make fun of any Republican candidate who says anything about feeling that God wants him/her to run? I'm guessing these liberals don't realize that over the years quite a few Democratic candidates, including JFK, have made similar statements, and that even today you'll find a few Dem candidates who will make such statements.

Personally, I think Herman Cain was an inept candidate, and I would not support him in the GOP primary if he ran again because I think he'd get stomped in the general election.

On this forum, any candidate who says God told them to run is going to get made fun of.

But Republicans seem to say it a lot, and the ones who seem most convinced that God told them to run wind up losing. It's like a pitcher pointing his bat at the stands.

Concerning the first hilited area, any candidate who thinks God wants him to run is at very least pretentious and deserves all the ridicule he or she gets. As to the second hilited area, can you give specific examples and cite sources?

God tells them to run; he doesn't tell them they're going to win. If God tells you to run, you run. It would be rude to ask for guarantees. Of course, I would still probably ask for two forms of ID.

Yeah, I'm thinking he's basically looking for publicity. Kind of like how Alan Keyes ran against Barack Obama for U.S. Senate in 2004, and then immediately went on an extended book tour after he lost the election by 40 points. But he sold a lot of books.

Maybe God just likes a good race, you ever think of that? Blowouts are sooooo boring.

He ran on 9-9-9 economic plan last time. Maybe this time he'll run on the BOGOF plan.

If we could convince him to run I'd register as R so I could vote in the primary. A Cain/Santorum ticket seems like a winner. Or something.

Nah, they just keep asking Him the wrong questions and hearing the answers they want to hear:

"Dear God, should I run for president?"

"faithful candidate, I have given you guidance on how to live in peace and mutual respect with your neighbors, how to become a more open and honest individual, and how to join closer with me in an enjoyment of creation, follow that guidance and the joyous wonders of the universe await."

"Cool, so if I do what I want, I will be rewarded!"

"Well, that's not quite what I said,...but the lessons learned along that path might do you some good, bring benefit to others around you who can learn from such, and might provide many Divine giggles and grins along the way, go in peace and good luck!"

BTW, when the Divine bids you "good luck" that probably shouldn't be counted as a blessing so much, but rather as a warning.

How did you learn not to stick random metal objects into electrical outlets?
