Ridge Resigns

You know, if there's one thing the Republicans have taught me it's that keeping gay people out of the spotlight is a 'family value'. Now Ridge is resigning because of family values?

Well he's been in public service since 1982. For the last two years he has been the administrator of a new agency with 180,000 employees and 50 other agencies rolled up into it (I think its fifty). And if there was anything like another 9-11, even a small one, he would be on the burner. That would be enough to keep anyone up at night. I am surprised he lasted this long and thought he would be the first to go. His family probably only got a chance to see him on TV, hence his cited reason for leaving. He says he will stay on until February for the latest but would go if he could be replaced sooner.

Coincidentally the head of the NACCP said he was quitting today for the same reason. The last time he got any quality time with his fourteen year old son was when the kid was 5. And his inopprtune critical remarks against Bush which is believed to be the reason the Justice Department is investigating the organization with an eye to revoking its tax exempt charity status because it is alleged the group may have a political agenda. This resignation may make this go away.
