A good move to avoid tainting Obama's administration right from the get go. Also it would have been another distraction like Blago that they don't need or want.
 
I think it was the professional thing to do, given the economic circumstances.

Yeh, I wondered about that. I think I'd rather be a governor.

If prestige is your gig, I don't see the Commerce secretary as a step up.

Wouldn't it make more sense if they reported to the secretary of state anyway? When I was a kid I think there were 10 cabinet members, now there's a gajillion. Commerce secretary seems like a good place to start the process of getting rid of some.

EPA administrator, why isn't that part of the department of interior? Let's get the EPA administrator out of the cabinet also.

I think I'd whack labor secretary also. Under a Republican administration it's pretty much of a do nothing job and under a Democratic administration the main job is to figure out how best to pay off the unions for helping get the Democrats elected.

Actually, under Republicans it's how best to punish unions for trying to get Dems elected.
