Response to lam(m)e religious miracles

As an ex-theists myself, I have heard more than my far share of 'miracle' anecdotes (anyone familiar with a mormon testimony meeting will know what I mean) Sometimes, these are in the form of responses to prayer, sometimes just because the person is living 'close to the spirit'. Mostly these are quite mundane coincidences, but no one every credits coincidence, common sense or modern medicine when they can Praise The LORD.

I like to imagine the heavenly communications centre that handles all the incoming prayers
Angel 1: "Hey Jesus, we got a request from a guy in Oregon. In total pain, liver cancer. Doc's can't do anything and he wants to be cured."
Angel 2: "Hold that one big guy, we got a lady in Ethiopia here. Starving to death, needs enough energy to walk the next 2 miles to the relief centre."
Angel 3: "Wait, guy here in the UK just crashed his car, car's burst into flames and he wants us to save his wife and 3 kids from the inferno."
Jesus: "Sorry guys, I gotta do an urgent call - Got a guy here who's dropped his glasses in the water"

One guy told me he knew God was real because God had transformed his uncle's silver fillings into gold at a faith healing meeting.

Of all the butt-lame miracles... Why couldn't God change the uncle's pocket change to gold? At least he could spend it then.

Ya...I get the drift. I have also said to religious people (like the Jehovah Witness lady on Saturday), how odd it is that many claim the virtues of prayer...yet look at 9-11. Didn't ANY of those people..people with families and children...say their prayers before heading off to the towers to work? Or, didn't God look favorably on firemen who dedicated their lives to helping humanity...only to be snuffed out so they could never help anyone else again?

And I was some "chosen one" who was bestowed the gift of finding my glasses.

The common defense used is that our small minds will never understand God. That's about the only defense there is...because there is too much that just doesn't make sense.

And by the way....everything I said in my post about the glasses, the deer, etc., was true.

Coincidence? Yes...I am a great believer in coincidence. But what IS it exactly? What are you to think if you experience odds-against coincidences occuring practically daily? I just wrote down a few pretty good ones that were quite syncronistic, lately.

If you write down every prayer,
and you concretise it,

you will find that some prayers are answered and some aren't.

Remember that the azrecs used to sacrifice on a dialy basis to help the sun through the underworld. And it rises everyday...
