Dr. Randy Pausch, computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon University died today. Dr. Pausch lectured last year in CMU's "Final Lecture Series" in which professors are invited to give the lecture that they would if that were the last lecture they were ever to deliver. Randy had known from a year before that he was dying of incurable pancreatic cancer, and deliver a stirring lecture on achieving your childhood dreams. Just before the lecture CMU changed the name of the series to "Journeys", and Randy quipped that they did that just as he had finally really nailed a lecture venue.
Dr. Pausch founded CMU's school of entertainment technology, a collaboration between the Department of Computer Science and the College of Art. He also developed the graphics language Alice.
