This follows on from the 'The Secret' thread I started earlier, but I think it deserves a new topic. Sorry if it doesn't.

Anyhoo, the woos on the business networking circuit have thrown a bunch of papers at me about 'Quantum Consciousness' which all looks like complete and utter garbage.

I've been sent a bunch of links such as:

http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~sai/forbquco.html

I'm not so much interested in the content as the author. Is there a directory somewhere where you can look up authors and see what they've published and how mean people back it or just back away laughing?

My couple minutes research indicates that James L. Forberg wrote a "book" called "Quantum Consciousness and Your Immortality" that he self-published on the internet. It's not a real book sold by Amazon or listed in libraries. He doesn't seem to have written anything else.

I would consider him as minor a player as possible in the idiotic field of "quantum mechanics somehow means you can create your own reality by thinking about it."

He refers to QM as Quantum Physics.
He also misspells plagiarise. Um I hope I spelled that right...

Yeah, I've done a bit of research in between re-decorating the kitchen (the four things certain in life: death, taxes, woo and constant household chores). I've not found anyone yet that they mention that has anything worthwhile to say.

It appears that all of it stems from the principle that observing something changes it. From this small sentence comes a whole industry of crud. I've entered into conversation with one of them, I'll see how far I go before my brain explodes.
