Oregon psychic detective Laurie McQuary told anyone who would listen, including Oregon TV station KVAL-TV in November 2008 that 19-year-old Oregon State University student Brooke Wilberger would be found in the Crabtree area, located in Linn County, miles east of the OSU campus in Corvallis.

However on Monday, September 21, 2009 Oregon Benton County police officials indicated the body of Brooke Wilberger was found within the county of Benton in coastal hills miles west of I-5 --- the major north/south freeway in Oregon --- rather than miles east of I-5 and in Linn County where crime psychic detective Laurie McQuary indicated.

Officials were taken to the body by Joel Courtney who pleaded guilty to the murder Monday and has been sentenced to life in prison without parole. Wow, she's a piece of work. I've never even heard of her. Thanks for posting this. Interesting.

BTW, it looks like you've researched in some depth into pyschic detectives. Have you studied Dorothy Allison at all? I've tried to find skeptical material but come up mostly empty on her. She seems unique to me in that she had several detectives in New York who backed her while she was alive. Most of these people claim this but when you try to find the detectives... surprise, there aren't any. In her case, there actually were.

At any rate, she might be an interesting one to research if you have the means and haven't already.

Our group believes the dismal paranormal visions of Dorothy Allison are well documented. Sylvia Browne, Kim Rowe, Carla Baron, Pam Coronado, Kathy Fleinwall, Laurie McQuary, Nancy Weber, Annette Martin, Sally Headding, and Noreen Renier keep lowering the bar however.

Thanks. By any chance, could you direct to me a web site or two with the best documentation on Dorothy Allison? I'd really appreciate it. All I've found are people with lists of her "hits" over the years. I haven't been able to find anyone who has researched into her misses, or investigated her claims to hits.

And I agree the bar keeps getting lower.

As the co-founder of the Northwest Skeptics group and a distinguished paranormal writer Michael Dennett (who died earlier this year) wrote an chapter on Allison, who died at 74 in 1999. That chapter is in the book 'Psychic Sleuths: ESP and Sensational Cases edited by Joe Nickell. The book is an excellent start on Allison and many of the other leading psychics and their fantasy claims.

And these psychics on the same case:

...
It is a tragic end to the story, but with more than 500 psychic detectives offering information on the case (and five years of searching and investigation by police, her family, and others) why hadn't Wilberger's body been found years ago? Why wasn't a single psychic able to tell police where her body would be found? Why couldn't one of the psychics read the killer's mind, or contact Brooke's departed spirit, and locate the poor woman's body so that her family could find closure? Why didn't the psychics come forward to remove this murderer's bargaining chip and let him pay for his crime?

It doesn't work like that.

Psychic Laurie McQuary: No further updates

It's also interesting to note that following Laurie McQuary's failed vision of where the murdered student's body would be found, she hasn't commented or updated her web site claims. Indeed her web site appears to be as much as 7 years out-of-date. I guess she doesn't like to acknowledge any critical analysis of her claims --- even when they have been killed off as entirely incorrect.
