prophecies and visions...

- Insanity. Hallucinations on pure air.

I'm shocked that you would doubt the motivations of a religious visionary! You, sir, are surely damned!:p

So, you don't believe in mysticism? Of course if it were a valid practice, it may be necessary, such as the case with doctors, to sort the legitimate ones from the quacks. By the way, if God were going to make Himself known to us, how do you think He would go about doing it if, not through some form of mysticism?

Well if I were God I'd appear at midfield during the Superbowl Halftime Show. Or just before kickoff. Or at the Opening ceremony for the Olympics or the World Cup. Appearing in the dreams of a random person is not high on my list. But then again, I'm not God, or am I?

Well the point about this mysticism stuff is to determine whether there is an afterlife or not. And possibly add guidance to those who seek it.

Hi just new here, surfing around from the mexican ufos, just thought I would try this one;

From the Biblical standpoint as this site is claiming it is

Well, its not doing very well in the original department.

I went through some of the Fulfilled Prophecies but they seem nothing more than what is already stated in the Bible. So how would that be prophetic to state whats been written already?

There were many prophets in the Bible right and wrong. But they had to be original and their claims had to be true or they were out of a job.

Whether one personally agrees with the Bible or not, it does constantly warn for the people to be wise, watch and be discerning of things. There is even a verse about carefully looking at things because false prophets will come up with signs and wonders to fool the people.

So, if things were to be tested then this site would be subject to the same rules.

From the site
Beware, My Precious Ones, of the Toronto's and the Pensacola's of the world. For, the works of Satan are abound. Many a miracle you shall see which is the work of the Father of Illusion, Satan himself.
Now, as a brit, I'm a little confused and - frankly - feeling a little left out by god. Are these types of Car? the Ford Pensacola? or maybe alcoholic cocktails? (anyone care for a Vodka Toronto?)
I know Toronto is a city, but is it *particularly* wicked or something? Wouldn't - say - Los Angeles have been a better example of a wicked city?

And whats with all this mock 'King James' terminology and allegory? all this "I shall make them to become as tinkling cymbals, a noise to the ears of like mind." You'd have thought that after 2000 years, god would learn to express himself comprehesively, instead of like some rustic windchime carver

Everything you ever wanted to know about (debunking) prophecy but were afraid to ask:

My Prophecy for Dummies Guide

I outline pretty much all the ways it can be manufactured using parlor tricks, make fun of the common apologetic rationalizations for prophecy failure, and even outline a series of tests that will readily debunk almost any prediction as having anything supernatural behind it.

Interesting concept, wrong however, but interesting.
First, you don't know how the Invisible Pink Unicorn, sorry, I meant the judeo/christian god, would manifest itself, that's just pure speculation.
Second, mysticism is like postmodernism "do what you feel, and it will be right anyway". I've seen and read so much about mysticism and it's like bar-talk, nothing, air, platitudes stacked upon other platitudes, full of unverifiable anecdotes, religious text from various sources, and a lot of magic actually. Hmm, isn't magic outlawed according to the bible?

Looks like you caught me right in the middle of posting this mystical dream I just had. Will try and post it shortly ... :)

A Mystical Dream

Hey man I just had a mystical dream! I was driving all over these back roads (suburban or somewhat rural?) trying to get to work or something, wondering why it was taking an eternity to get there? I then found myself on more of a straight-away, thinking, "Oh, this looks more familiar, now it should be a little bit easier to get there." While the scenery wasn't quite familiar and I began to wonder if I was about to make a wrong turn? While everything had pretty much become rural now as I noticed I was on a dirt road running into a dead end. So I turned around and tried going back the way I came, only to find myself on another dirt road running into a dead end.

And I found myself walking, more or less back in the direction I came, as I walked past this old sporting goods store or something. And I couldn't help but notice all this back-packing equipment, displayed outside on the wall in front as you walked by. And I was thinking, "Man it's too bad I'm not into this stuff anymore," and was wondering why it would all show up in my dream like this.

I then became more conscious as I walked into this big mall or something, which was setup like some kind of sporting facility. And I noticed this idealized looking bowling alley down the maroon carpeted walkway (a fairly steep slope) on the left as it jutted out from underneath the overhang. There were several similar businesses there as well, but this is the one that caught my eye and was the only one I could differentiate.

And I began to wonder if I had died, because this dream had been going on forever and was getting too real. And I thought, "Have I really died this time?" (It wasn't the first time.) And I thought, "Oh well, if I've died there's not much I can do about it; I'm not even going to try to find my way back at this point" (i.e., figure out how to wake myself up). And I found myself looking at a sign or something that was on a counter, as it felt like I began to wake up, as I found myself talking to some woman, saying, "Oh this looks more familiar, maybe I actually haven't died yet." While at this point I actually did wake up, and found myself on the couch in the living room, trying to keep from giving myself a charley horse in my left leg. Ouch!

Serious question
what makes a dream mystical?

and what elevates a hallucination from schizophrenia to the realms of prophecy?

Interesting but Im wondering

The Bible itself is quite particular about prophets and indeed has more or less the same "rules" you state. Including warnings about false or incorrect prophets.

If a prophet is wrong then they are not a prophet.

The Bible would basically be against the others you list it with and agree with you. So "lumping" it with the others becomes inaccurate.

I would check out the claims of those on that web site with "the other side of the argument" They debate with those on that site regularly. So for accuracy one would need to look at both sides for a conclusion. So, one is not just gathering info that agrees with their own arguement.

Im sure the rest have their supporters and one could certainly look at them. But I have a feeling not only science but the Bible would also "debunk" them.

Just wondering how accurate a person wants to be. I dont like to just take someones word for it, I like to know if they are reliable or have a history of it.

Quite often schizophrenia which, is the breakup of one's mind and becoming subject to its underpinnings, can lead to a prophetic experience, if one is fortunate enough to understand what has happened and can learn how to restructure their mind with this newly found insight. This is typically what happens with shamanistic practices throughout the world. Aside from that though, it's pretty much luney toons.

Welcome Miss Kitty.

What if (as I believe) - the stories of prophets were written much later by people with their own religious/political agendas. Thus, they could put known events into the mouths of the prophets - as prophesy.
