Progressive collapse

Today, a building in Christchurch collapsed unexpectedly.
It was being demolished due to earthquake damage, and a demolition digger was ripping it pieces bit by bit when a part of the building collapsed and a chain reaction occurred leading to all of the floors collapsing.
No one was injured, although there were a few rather scared people!
a video can be seen here (the best one IMO because it shows the complete collapse)

one more video (kind of NSFW due to swearing)
It is a concrete structure rather than steel, and it was much smaller than the WTC buildings, but I think some comparisons can be made.
First off, it shows straight away that the dust clouds have nothing to do with a controlled demolition (the explosive kind), also, it was REALLY loud! (could easily be mistaken for explosions) Actually, it sounds remarkably similar to the WTC collapses.
A failure of one part of the structure lead to the whole structure collapsing, and the result was a rather flat pile of rubble.
Once the support columns were destroyed, those top floors fell pretty fast!

Thought some people might be interested.:)

Was reading about this of Stuff.co.nz tonight and thought the same thing. One of the witnesses even said it was just like the twin towers.

Someone please send a sample of the dust to Steven Jones so he can determine how and why the goverment made the building collapse.

Could be an interesting forensic investigation seeing as the demolition company declined expert help.

But the amusing side issue is this:
At 1.30pm the walls were held together by seven concrete slabs, the floors. But in seconds those collapsed, reigning thousands of tonnes of concrete down into the centre, shocking everybody who was nearby.
"reigning"?

An interesting issue in constitutional law - the idea that thousands of tonnes of concrete could be a monarchical head of state.

Still it is KiwiLand.

The folks for whom information like this is designed to foster better understanding of the events of 9/11 are too pig-headed and ignorant for the light bulb to go off.

Lots of noise and dust from a modest-sized building. The scale of the collapse of the Twin Towers was so huge, it's difficult to conceptualize.

Quick! Start a conspiracy theory page on FB. See what sort of response you get. :D

Fitz

I wonder if you started a page and asked for donations to help investigate the collapse and how it affect 9/11, how much money you'd get?

Someone did that with the Sandy Hook shootings, asked for donations for a child that was lost. I. obviously, would never condone that due to a myriad of moral issues. However, no one was hurt here, and idiots can be parted from there money fairly easily. After you get enough for a good night out at the pub, shut it down and say, "It collapsed."
