There was a successful rally at the Danish Embassy in DC last week and there will be another one in New York this Friday. I think San Francisco should take a stand for free speech as well. Who's with me?

The purpose of the gathering would be:

  • Show support and solidarity with a friendly, democratic nation.
  • Set a contrast to ugly images from around the world with a peaceful and civil demonstration.
  • Send a clear message that we will not be intimidated or silenced by fundamentalists.

Got details on the NY one? I might be able to take a half day or a long lunch.

And havarti cheese. Don't be forgetting the cheese! Liberals might rally for any old reason, but if you want to get conservatives along you gotta have food. We're like journalists that way. :D
 
Yes! I erroneously posted it would be this Friday, but it will be next Friday, March 3, outside the Danish consulate at One Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, 885 Second Avenue, from 12 pm to 1 pm.

Christopher Hitchens came up with the idea for the DC demonstration. It's definitely worthly of emulation in other cities.
 
Huh? Isn't March 3 this Friday?

So how strict is the prohibition on posting URLs? Seems like there should be ways to work around it.
