Numerous federal government agencies are collecting and sifting through massive amounts of personal information, including credit reports, credit-card purchases and other financial data, posing new privacy concerns, according to the General Accounting Office (GAO).

This isn't new. The government has had all kinds of personal data on us for years. It sucks just as much then as it does now.

Does it matter? An infringement is an infringement, and when you open the door to one infringement, more are sure to follow. Are you really shocked that the government is using its power (given to it by generations of leftists and quasi-fascists) to pursue its interests?

Shocked? No. Displeased? Very much so.
