I was wondering what makes it seem as if a dream has come true? I know of several people who claim to have had dreams that foretell an event in the future. These people seem sincere and have nothing to gain by these claims, so I am led to believe that they genuinely beleive that they have dreamed the future.
What causes this? Is it just that we dream so much that eventually one or two will hit on an actual event?
If you are serious about studying this, and definitely we have no reason to scoff at this stage, then your friends need to get a bit organised. I suggest the following method (others may have better ideas than this, though):
1/ Get them to write down the dream as best they can in detail
as soon after they have it as possible. Notepad by the bed, etc. Sign, date and timestamp that paper and put a copy in a sealed envelope, also signed and date-stamped on the outside, and leave the envelope with a trusted person.
2/ Make sure that if a dream is somehow a premonition, that anything that can date or positively and accurately locate the premonition happening is good. Eg. "next Saturday" or "on mom's birthday" or "in history class next Wednesday".
3/ When an event that they think is referred to by a dream actually occurs, get someone to cross-check their copy of the dream reading with records of that event. See how close they came, including the specifics listed. Vague readings score badly, exact readings score well.
4/
Most importantly, try to eliminate any "naturally occuring" reasons for getting hits. E.g. really vague readings like "something bad will happen on Saturday" will almost always be true somehow somewhere in the world, so that does not count as a good premonition (in fact, it should be ignored).
If the person starts to get consistent good hits then they may be on to something, so have them apply for the $1M JREF prize!
