For my son Ken, that he has favor with the insurance company and his car will be replaced qquickly as he has no money as he just graduated from college and also that God will bring to remembrance all he needs for his state boards as satan's attacks rob him of time and concentration.
for my son tim , that he may have favor with his chief and captain and fairness will be restored and also that he has the strength to endure until it does.
Yes, God, please keep Satan out of the exam room.
Please Lord, keep me from fear as I attempt to provide for my family, I am a single mom and under alot of financial stress. Lord, You have blessed me in so many ways, please reveal to me what I need to change, send me divine wisdom and heal this aspect of my life. I love my job and am seeking to add another type of work out of neccessity, this will be alright. Please send me to the right 2nd job.
Get the local Sunday paper. Look in the Classifieds.
Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ, Please pray for the following intention. I have my driving test tomorrow in UAE. I have failed 4 times but I firmly believe that God will bless me the fifth time tomorrow as I go for my driving test. Please pray for me. Thank you DERAL
Please study harder.
Please pray for my son, Josh, who will be going to court in Plankinton,sd on june 2, 2004 for drug possession. he is 22 years old and just out of college and has finally got his first real job. pray that the judge will not ruin josh's life and his opportunities he has now to have a second chance. he is very sorry for what happened and has learned a valuable lesson in life. please pray that God will be with him and guide him in his life. I trust in the lord completely and know his will, will be done in this matter.
If you can't change God's will, why bother praying in the first place?
Please pray that my niece learns to respect her mother, stop using foul language, stops smoking & drinking, and behaves well.
Yeah, God's not busy enough as it is without having to discipline your niece.
My husband of almost 14 years has told me that he doesn't love me anymore and wants a divorce. We have 2 young children and a home. I can't even breathe this is hurting me so badly. I love him with all my heart and want this marriage to work, but no matter how hard I pray and cry, he is still determined to leave me. I've thought about suicide many many times a day since this started and have even come close to just ending the whole thing. Last night I spent just driving in my car, crying so hard I couldn't even see. I love my husband and I need so badly for God to help me keep my marriage together. Please, please pray for me and for my husband and for our marriage before it's too late.
I just find this one incredibly sad and pathetic.
Praise the Lord. My name is Sister Priscilla and I am in need of a financial miracle. Also please pray for a financial miracle for the Ashford Family. Both of us are in a desperate financial need. With men it is impossible but not with GOD, for with GOD all things are possible. I have faith in GOD. Grace & Peace
The check is in the mail.
Please pray for me. I have been having pain in my left side since last week. Sometimes it keeps me up at night. I don't know what it is. Also please pray for me and my family. I need a financial breakthrough. I was without a job for a year and at that time I had gotten behind in my bills. I am trying to catch up on them. I now am working a temp job. Please pray that this will turn into a permanent position. Also I need for you all to pray for my brother. He lost his job and is now looking for another. Please pray that he will receive a job soon. God Bless.
Good luck with the job, but please go see a doctor about the pain in your side.

Sad indeed. :(
I would suggest, w/out being disrespectful or snarky, that if you wished things were different that you take a more direct route to helping these people. Write them a note, offer them suggestions, or show that you care in the way of a kind word and well wishes. Mockery does little to ease pain.

Well here's something about the nature of prayer, and vain repetition, in our very own Bible in fact. Maybe this will help? This used to be my favorite chapter in the Bible by the way ...

1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. ~ Matthew 6:1-8
Of course it goes so far as to quote the Lord's Prayer in the very next verse, however, taking into account what's already been said, I doubt that it has anything to do with merely reciting the words. I also might add, that the Bible handles quite readily those things which it might consider blasphemous.

That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

I'm a little fuzzy on this, but I assume it means when you pray you do so in private and not on a information superhighway connecting nearly every dang person on the planet.

Not saying bottling up is the answer though. Talk to people. If they don't pick up you really want to talk, you may have to ask them. It sucks I know (not sarcasm).

On a side note, if you've failed the drivers test 4 times get lessons. You will kill someone. I'd hate to see a newspaper article in 6 months about how some parents child was 'taken away from her' presumably by satan.

Funny how religious topics attract atheists.
You would figure that they would be totally disinterested. :D

Actually the passage here refers to both alms (good deeds) and prayer, which are obviously related. Yes, and it does seem to suggest that the worship of God is more of a private matter, rather than using it as a means to draw a lot of attention to yourself, which is obviously vain and egotistical, right?

Am not sure I follow the rest of what you're saying here?

I think he might be saying ask for help when you need it, even if it's hard for you to do.
Kind of akwardly worded though. ;)

EDIT: Speaking of which...the word is awkwardly, GM. A-W-K...:D

Yeah, it could have been clearer.

I was trying to say I can sympathise with someone who wants to talk and finds no-one is picking up the subtle signals. So you have to bite the bullet and ask them to talk. Feels awful but bottling up feels worse.

Being an adults sucks.

Ugh, I am reminded of a painful incident that was recounted to me by a sincere believer in miracles through prayer.

The short version of the story is: she needed money, so she asked the Almighty for it. A few days later, she received an unexpected check in the mail, which she cashed. Quite a thing.

Except ... the check had someone else's name on it, and it had apparently been misdirected to her.

She cashed it anyway, sincerely convinced that this was the money that the Almighty had sent her in response to her prayer. Part of the reason she believed this was the case was because televangelists had told her that sending unexpected wealth through the mail is one of the ways in which the Almighty operates.

Just suppose the husband told her he was leaving because he could no longer put up with her religious bullsh*t. Could she pray to lose her faith?

1 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,

3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. ~ Matthew 18:1-5
That's it, no more quoting. Just thought you might appreciate this here. :)

She would still be praying to the same God if, it was all done in vain. ;)

Things like this are just depressing, religious or not. How could the relationship progress from here? Does she think it'll be like:
"Say honey do you remember that time 5 years ago when I said I didn't love you and you were going to commit suicide? Boy that was a crazy time wasn't it. I'm glad we just stuck together!"

Hint: If you are wanting to commit suicide because someone won't love you it's a good sign that the're not 'the one'. Best thing to do is get over it. Also, don't drive when you can't see.

Reminds me of the time when I was 15 and my dad said to me if Mum divorced him he'd have no option but to kill himself. Good times.

I used to work in a electrical shop and a woman came in once and asked if I could erase a called number from her mobile phone. "If I don't get rid of this number my boyfriends going to give me a black eye" She didn't for a moment think this was odd or that normal people don't give black eyes to others. I'd bet she's still with him because she has no idea there's any other state .
