This is one case where I wish I knew more, there had been earlier indications that somewhat ironically material developed by white racists had been embraced by local activist groups (See also this earlier thread, but it seems to be spreading into some surprising areas.

There were angry scenes at Perth Magistrate's Court today as Aboriginal protestors demonstrated their support for an activist accused of assaulting a police officer at the Heirisson Island protest.

Magistrate Elizabeth Woods was forced to leave the courtroom twice after activists refused to leave the bar table alongside Len Wayne Culbong, who is charged with assaulting a public officer.

It is alleged Mr Culbong pushed a police officer who was attempting to shut down the Heirisson Island protest on February 23.

Well-known activist Marianne Mackay refused to leave the bar table alongside Mr Culbong when he was first called to appear before the magistrate at about 10.30am. Ms Woods asked Ms Mackay to move to the public gallery which she refused to do.

"I am a sovereign Aboriginal woman and I have a right to be here," she said. "If you put your hands on me I will have you charged with assault because I am a sovereign Aboriginal woman."

I don't know about the situation in Australia, but here in Canada, many of the native groups argue (with some success in the courts) that they never surrendered their sovereignty and remain sovereign nations. Here at least, it's nothing to do with kooky theories like the FOTLers advance.

Similar in the US, up to a point. For example, many Native American tribes have casino gambling, even in states where it's otherwise illegal.
