I'd really like to read the original article, if anyone can find it (I'm searching the American Psychologist journal website right now, but can't locate it).
My parents are both Republican. My mom thinks Regan sh@! roses and she voted for BushII. My father believes that democrats spend to much--in Michigan, it was a rep. that tanked our economy and a dem. that has tried, though not successfully, to fix this mess. I think my father might even be a libertarian.
I am extremely leftist. My brother is certainly to the left, although I cannot discern how far left. I don't believe we are rebelling as we are a little too old for that. Mostly, I think my brother and I have seen our parent's reasons for their political ideology trashed and, since the neo-cons had a morality clause, we are democratic party voters.
I don't know how genetics fits into that one- all of the causes seem environmental in my case.
