Somebody on one of my email lists made a passing remark about using "quantum chips" for healing. So i went googling and found this:
The NanoVibeChip has harnessed a tonal vibration that when placed within the body’s Quantum Field it once again aligns the body with it’s Quantum Blueprint. Once realigned, the body can operate at its highest level of efficiency and well-being.
The Nano Vibe Chip, created by Intention Energy, brings this technology to the United States market in a greatly improved titanium pendant at a very competitive price. Intention Energy has been very successful in Japan and now brings the product line that has been selling out in Japan to the United States at lower prices. How often do you get a better product at a lower price? How good is this? The NanoVibe Chip is also available directly to you. You do not have to belong to a Golf Country Club or go to a Golf Pro Shop to buy it. Intention Energy has you in mind and makes it easy to help you.
Intention Energy through a proprietary process, has developed a method to transform vibratory frequencies into photonic energy that when activated by the body’s electromagnetic energy will, like DNA, release information that harmonizes the body’s bio-field.
Urrgghhhh... Words fail me. Are golfers really so stupid as to swallow this nonsense?

I did try the Intention Energy website to see their explanation of how their amazing chip works. However, it's an all-Flash no-text site that failed to load fully in my browser, and they have no accessible alternative.
I doubt that I'm missing anything, though.

Lousy at golf must buy... NOW! No critical thinking required here, I'm so terrible I'll try anything! ;)

Aiming at the golf market might not be a bad idea. After all people waste thousands on golf equipment that's supposed to make them better players .Of course none of that really matters, the key is your swing and your ability to putt and chip; that's what makes a good golfer.

Stupid--maybe...
Desperate? Definitely

"If it weren't for that 1 perfect shot every couple of rounds, I'd give this game up"--unknown golfer's lament

Drive for show - putt for dough.

That's all you need to know for your golf game.

If you can't play better, chances are, you suck at the game. Admit it and get over it. I like playing the game and I shoot a 72 on average, and that's on the front nine. :D

and that joke's as old as King Putt, himself..:p

Golfers are actually insane. I know I am one. I also used to sell golf equipment and have seen it first hand. I don't think that golfers really believe that most of this stuff works as they have bought stuff before that didn't work but what have you got to lose by trying ($$$).

What if it works!!

There is a difference between cheap equipment and the good stuff. You wouldn't know unless you have tried the good stuff and you play well enough. For some people nothing will ever help. There is a huge difference between a $20 dollar department store putter and a $300 Callaway. Whether you are good enough to exploit it, that's the question.

Oddly, because so much of the game is played between the ears these trinkets can have an effect very similar to Dumbo's feather. It might actually make you better (but not for quantum physics reasons).

I went straight to the section called "a scientific look".

I only made it through about 15 seconds of the "scientific" stuff, the BS they're spouting sounded almost exactly like what I wrote on that question on the Bio100 final that I didn't know the answer to.

Why is my slice so bad that the ball often ends up further away from the pin than it was before I battered it?

Okay, golf tip time. When people slice they often try to compensate by aiming the other direction (a right handed player will aim more left). This actually makes it worse because now you have really just opened your stance. Opening your stance will promote an outside in swing path and you are in trouble.

Slicers also usually swing too hard. It's about rhythm and timing not brute strength. Shafts that are too stiff don't help either.

What you really need is a magic trinket to fix your brain. :p Or, lessons and practice.

Most golfers will try anything. Except lessons. I know. I golfed for 5 years before I took lessons, then spent an entire year getting rid of bad habits. It was hard work, frustrating at times, but in the end it took almost 20 strokes off my game (and my back doesn't get sore after a round now).

Good equipment, fitted to your body and swing, make a big difference. But first, take lessons and develop a good, consistent swing. My teacher refused to fit me for clubs until I improved enough to benefit from them.

But golfers are willing to spend lots of money on instant cures for their game. I know a few who try all the latest gimmicks but consistenly refuse my advice to spend their money on lessons instead. So it is no surprise that there are dozens of companies selling magic pendants and bionic gloves and slice correcting clubs...

In my experience, the real key to good golf is to borrow all your clubs. Whenever I've borrowed a fellow player's driver I invariably larrup the ball into next week. On the rare occasion I've gone on to buy one of the things the magic immediately evaporates.

I think it must have something to do with money changing hands because rented clubs are equally ineffective. Perhaps the magnetic strip in credit cards or the metallic strip in bank notes causes some kind of quantum disturbance ?

That's nothing. My slice is so bad that the fish often ends up further away from the pan than it was before I battered it.
