Here is one way to know when to stop listening to someone talk: When they call him Stephen Hawkings.
I remember a guy in this forum who used to get not only his theories wrong, but also link to some other guy named Hawkings, saying he is the string theorist.
 
I occasionally have to google "John Edward" to double check that I am referring to the correct person, so I shouldn't make fun of it. You can make fun of me, though.

I think the difference here is that if you are going to give a presentation, you've had ample time to fact check.

For example, Steve-o Hawking isn't really into string theory. He primarily talks about spacetime and gravity.
