It is bad when psychics take advantage of people due to compassion for others, whether it be friends, family, or pets.

I came across this website the other day and was astonished to see the story of "Bubba" the cat. I do not know whether the website is a hoax, a scam intended to get money out of people, or a genuinely delusional person.

Basically, "Bubba" was adopted by this person as a rescue cat after having lived on the streets as an orphaned kitten for a couple of months. He has some issues being nervous around people and is generally skittish (as many stray cats are, based on my own personal experience).

The person that adopted him decided his issues needed to be resolved and took him to a pet psychic. This is the result of that meeting, according to her:
Out of desperation and concern for Bubba's emotional health, we finally called in a pet psychic. I know. You think pet psychics are scammers. I did too until I saw how Bubba, who usually hisses at everyone prior to hiding under the couch, had full trust in the pet psychic immediately. The tears welled in my eyes as I saw Bubba purring in contentment while in her lap. I knew at that moment she was the real deal.

Through speaking to Bubba telepathically, the psychic determined that Bubba is so shy because HE is really a SHE. Bubba is transgendered. Bubba suffers from low self-image and has been mentally distraught because she has been forced to live in a male cat body for so long.

So now she is trying to raise money for the cat to undergo a sex change operation. I don't know of any self-respecting veterinarian who would perform such an operation. However, I cannot tell from the website if this is a true story with a seriously delusional person or a scam.
If you want to check it out for yourself, here is the link: Bubba needs a sex change

A cat has "low self-image"? Please.

The lady says she is getting a lot of "hate mail" but from what I have read it is more like "are you sure you're firing on all cylinders?" type mail.

One person even suggests she take the cat to two or three other "pet psychics" and ask them what is wrong with the cat... to see if anyone else comes up with the same story. Come on, fess up - was it someone from this board?

It sounds to me like the cat acts pretty normal. A lot of cats that started as strays remain shy around people they're not familiar with. We've got a cat that used to be terribly shy around strangers; she would hide from them without fail. She is now 20 years old and too senile to remember to be scared anymore, so they do grow out of it. ;)

My husband found our cat in a parking lot. He was about 5 or 6 months old and weighed 3 1/2 pounds. He was so malnourished that his whiskers had all broken off. He had fleas and worms. He's much better now (and fat!), but he still doesn't trust anyone he doesn't know. And even those he knows, he doesn't trust all that much. We had friends over for dinner the other day, and the cat came in, not knowing they were there. It was his dinner-time, but he wouldn't even stay in to eat while those "other people" were in the house. He even runs from us if he sees us outside; it's like he doesn't know it's us if we're not in the house.

Do you think he's gay?

He's probably transgendered, and here you are callously bringing people over for dinner! How could you! :D

Mother cats sometimes don't like the whiskers tickling them when the kitten is feeding and bites them off.

Leon
The vet was the one who told us it was from malnutrition making them brittle. I've had plenty of kittens before, along with mother cats with their kittens, and none of them ever had whiskers like this. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, just that I've never seen it.

It really is an amazing state of affairs when you can't tell if it is a satirical joke or a serious web site. I would tend to think it was a joke and perhaps a bit of fun to get people to send money. Though, according to the website she has received a whopping $4 from donations.

IN theory with enough knowledge of human and animal behavior, combined with an old art form known as deception, commonly known as a the art of con, You too can be an animal Psychic. Being able to identify a susceptible individual is also impotent.

WOO HOO

Oh jumpin' Jeebus on a flaming pogo stick!

My wife and I just adopted a cat two weeks ago. He was understandably nervous and skittish from being in the shelter, but after a few days we got him to warm up to us. I think the real kicker was using the brush on him - no psychics necessary.

Wow... just... wow
