With Trump tanking in the polls in key states, this one might be fun....Harris should be able to wipe the floor with Pence especially given the Trump administration's problems. The problem with Pence is he can't just go full Trump, but he can hardly defend Trump's actions without looking like a moron. Trump can somehow get away with acting like a moron most of the time (though he seems to be testing even some of the GOP die hard base right now with some of his antics reckless endangerment of his staff).

I made the comment in a few places yesterday that it should be an enormous victory to Harris. A stupid old white evangelical homophobe bloke against a determined, extremely intelligent and fired-up woman.

I might even try to watch it. Should be a merciless beating so bad that Pence might get some sympathy votes.
 
She will go after Trump, and maybe Pence regarding the Coronavirus task force. And she will make Pence defend Trump and he will look like the fawning sycophant he is.

Mark Kelly did that with Martha McSally in their debate last night. The headlines this morning were that she danced around her support of Trump.
 
Looking forward to seeing Harris in action, and to watching an actual, real debate, between two normally functioning adults.
I wonder if Pence brings Mother. I hear he's uncomfortable around women who aren't his wife.

Oh, and I'm looking forward to Twitter Trump desperately trying to make it all about him, while under the influence of corona and whatever drugs he's currently taking.

Yeah, that really should be the strategy everywhere. Make them justify their support of their Psychopath-in-Chief. Trump gets away with it because he is utterly impervious to shame. These people such as Pence and some of the downballot candidates are not - or not entirely. They know, deep down, that their man is a dangerous and selfish lunatic. Make them spend an hour and a half destroying their reputations on the stage defending him.
 
Which one I would prefer is already settled because, no matter how bad she might turn out to be, at least she doesn't make membership in a torture cult the big defining thing in her life, which makes her better than anybody who does. But it's still the more interesting debate for two reasons. First, neither participant this time is a cross between a third-world dictator, a dementia patient, a raving maniac, an inept clueless fop, a spoiled toddler trying to pretend to be like a grown-up, and a coked-up orange baboon. And second, I gather that Harris has some lefty credentials from before her Presidential campaign, but that clashes with her behavior during the campaign and the fact that she got picked for VP by a Republican in disguise, so I'll be watching for clues to how serious she is about this shift to the right.

Thom Hartmann predicts that Pence will attack Harris on things that she's said, out of context, and try to twist what Harris is running on and twist who Harris is. He will lie through his teeth and do it with a smile on his face and a calm demeanor.
He is like the Terminator of politicians. Nothing will stop him from destroying Trump's enemies. Not facts, not morality, not ethics... nothing.

The Democrats and the KKK was in 1920, yet I see trumpkins throw that out from time to time. Making sense and being reasonable was never important to them.
 
Ugg, she just HAD to open with a mini-speech containing "Here's the thing" in her very first answer. How low our standards have sunk, that we can't even insist on such a bare minimal standard as not saying "Here's the thing"...
 
Is Pence shaking his head 'yes' when he lies, and 'no' when he tells the truth?
Maybe I'm seeing things.
