Well put. Does remind me of Terry Pratchett's "Fifth Elephant" And the Scone of Stone.
Of course, as everything is "recycled" then obviously some miniscule part was/is of the original piece and therefore it is the original. At least homeopathically speaking. Fer suuure. Riiight.

I saw that juggler/comedian, in San Francisco, before he hit it big. It was a wonderful act. I should know his name, but I prefer to think of him as this amazing unknown in Ghirardelli Square...

eta: The bit with the axe was almost the only part I remember. He followed it with "and so, I give you...George, the Axe....Mack, the Knife...[groans from audience]...and... Beaver, the Cleaver [bigger groans]...."
