Paltalk + Wine?

To post the obvious reply, I've had it running after two bottles of wine. But that was under Windoze.

Cheers,
Rat.

Well, I can install PalTalk and launch it under WINE, but the minute I try to enter a room or send or receive a PM (you know, anything USEFUL) it crashes on me. I'm not sure, but I think it has to do with the requirement of having IE on your system. Although IE is installed and works under WINE, it doesn't seem to be 100%.

I can get a little further. Paltalk will launch, I can display groups, but when I dbl-click on a group the list goes empty and never populates.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I keep tryin...

eeeexcellent.....

Finally got it to go....

Make sure wine version is 20040309 or higher.

add or modify config entry:

[AppDefaults\\paltalk.exe\\DllOverrides]
"commctrl" = "native"
"comctl32" = "native"
"riched20" = "native"
"riched32" = "native"

did this and voila....she works!

Do you know there is a product called "Windows" that will run Paltalk with hardly any problems... ;)

Unfortunately, this so-called "Windows" costs at least $100 and doesn't run under Linux. It won't even install on my ReiserFS partition. Pffft.

Worst of all, only part of the source code is freely available :p

Just installed it, the latest version of paltalk (the one with the fancy colours), and wine 20040213.

No need to pass anything onto wine or setup the dll overrides.

Only trouble is it won't show up in my menus, so to run it I have to re-install it every time (takes 20 seconds if that)

But I can speak, listen, play music, view tired old naked women on webcams.

Even works under aRts and KDE3.2 and kernel 2.6.4

Oh yeah, and the best thing is, absolutely no ads whatsoever, not even in the room banners. Now all I have need for windows is for games :)

I upgraded to 20040309 (using SuSE 9.0). Exact same symptoms: when I run PalTalk, it works until I try to enter a room, then it crashes.

Whenever I make your modification to my config file, it refuses to work at all.

:(

I saw you trying the other night, I now got it working fine from my menu (and desktop icon).

And just to prove it, here is a screen grab to show paltalk running on KDE. As you can see Fidelio is playing some music.

Just don't press the button to get smilies, it screws it up....

Oh shanek, did you uninstall the prior version of wine (make uninstall) prior to updating?
