African-Americans are victims of nearly half the murders committed in the United States despite making up only 13 percent of the population, a report published Thursday showed.
Around 8,000 of nearly 16,500 murder victims in 2005, or 49 percent, were black Americans, according to the report released by the statistics bureau of the Department of Justice.

Most murder victims -- 93 percent of blacks and 85 percent of whites -- were killed by someone of their own race.

And? Next thing you're going to tell me people usually live with socialize with people of their own race. It's not that shocking.

This also means that, assuming no non-blacks were murdered by black people, 45.57% of all murders were committed by blacks, even though they comprise only 13% of the population. I find that a sad and depressing statistic.

Gang violence was involved in around five percent of homicides with black victims against seven percent for white victims.

I am really shocked by this number...Half?! I am sure there are many social and economic reasons behind this, but this seems to be an area that really does need more focus in America...

Since all cultures are equally beautiful and diverse and multiculturally wonderful, we must merely mull around mooting Ebonics and free lunch programs and troubled-youth drop-in centres, which we're already doing. The only logical conclusion for the extremist would, then, have to be this:

im not a white supremacist and i do think that black popular culture in america does encourage crime and ignorance. i dont think its anything specifically wrong with black people, it just happens to be the popular culture of blacks in the us. theres a growing amount of critisism within their own communities though so i think things will change eventually.

If I'm into supremacism it's news to me. What makes you think I don't criticise popular American culture at large? I imagine I'm the harshest culture critic on this entire board.
